I want to go to college either in Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri or Pennsylvania. Is it best to take both the ACT and the SAT or can I just take the SAT? Is it true that more students take the ACT? My couselor told me that local scholarships would tend to look more at my ACT score. Do colleges in the states I've mentioned above favor one test over another? And if you scored high on one test but low on another, how do colleges interpret that?

Well, ALL students in Illinois take the ACT. And I would definitely take it if I were applying to schools in Wisconsin or Missouri. They are both big ACT states.

Course, I'd recommend that everyone take both. You may do much better on one than the other, and you don't have to send them both in.

definitely take both. but if you take any sat iis, your sat i score WILL be on the report. they don't care, tho...they take your highest score, whether it's act or sat. do a practice test for each before you decide which to prep for. there are free ones of both on review.com, so you don't need to buy any tests at first.
