Okay i tried searching and never found exactly what i am searching for.

I am wondering Whether or not to take the SAT or ACT. My school offers a good ACT Prep course for 80 dollars, test prep and what not and im signing up for it. But what i want to know is whether to take the SAT or ACT, also i always see SATII, what is that? I have heard that Midwest schools(Where i want to go) like the ACT more.

well, the sat and act are two standardized tests. its true that many midwestern schools prefer the act. we can see that in the fact that university of michigan and university of wisconsin report scores to usnews in the act scale (1-36). if you are applying to primarily midwestern schools, the act might be for you. however, theres another consideration. the act covers a wider range of material. i mean, theres science in it (one reason which i chose the sat, besides the fact that i live in the NE, which is sat land). the sat focuses on math and verbal, and now writing as well.

the sat ii's are subject tests that measure how much your level in subjects like us/world/euro history, math, languages, literature, etc... many colleges now require these tests to be taken in conjunction with the sat (they would not be required if you took the act).

i hope this explanation helped at least a bit, and maybe other people could fill in any holes.
