Best type of bag for getting around campus

Curious to know which type of bag would be best. In HS I used a messenger bag but I am concerned that all of my belongings will not fit in it. What would you recommend?

It depends what you take to class with you and if you go back to your dorm in between classes.

Personally, I just carried a bookbag and almost never took out my books, or at the very least, I’d get all of my books for that particular day in the morning before I left.

Other people I knew just had a simple tote or carried their books by hand.

a great durable back pack. you have a lot of books and stuff. many also carry their lap top in their back pack. i actually havent had the best success but dont go cheap. you wont have to pay hundred or anything, but make sure the bag will last. you can always use it on lateri n life

I used a jansport backpack and it held up well. It isn’t waterproof, but it only rains liked 15 times at my college during the school year and that wasn’t a huge concern for me. I wouldn’t recommend getting something with a ton of pockets.

Messenger bags are for Jack Bauer, not college students.

I use a rolly, but thats because its really hard on my knees elsewise :/

I’ve got a durable North Face backpack that I love. It holds what I need and don’t need. I tried using a messenger bag for a bit, the Bag of Holding from ThinkGeek, but found it too cumbersome and awkward especially when dealing with stairs or having to get from point A to point B quickly. Plus it started playing torture on my right shoulder. I’m right handed so I usually kept it on that side.

I recommend a good quality backpack. Check your campus bookstore for some options. They won’t be cheap but won’t be expensive either.

I alternate from book bag to a fairly large purse. I very rarely ever take my books to class so as long as my laptop and notebooks fit, it is fine.

Are north face backpacks waterproof?

@transfergal1 Mine isn’t which I discovered during a rainstorm. However I think they may make a spray that will waterproof things like bags and shoes. I remember my Mom using it on shoes as a kid.

At my school, JanSport, OGIO, and North Face backpacks are most common. Realize you won’t be hauling every book you own with you every day, so it’s not imperitive that your bag is massive.

Refrain from getting a rolly. You’ll be on a college campus, not at the airport. Unless you have a legitimate reason to have one, it just looks dorky and lazy.

I use messenger bags mostly, because they make accessing things in the bag easier. I’ve had JanSport and Manhattan Portage bags. The MP one was the best and lasted the longest (4 years of constant use) and was waterproof (it had a rubber lining) which was great for where my college is. It rains a ton here.

At my school, guys use backpacks and girls use tote bags. Common brands for guys are Jansport and North Face, for girls are Longchamp and generally any normal tote bag (sorority lettered, etc.)
