I'm going to be living on campus, and my school has a traditional campus. I'm not a fan of backpacks - I haven't had one since the eighth grade, so I don't want to go back to those really. And I imagine that I won't be lugging my textbooks with me since I'll be on campus.

Would a large tote bag be okay? Does anyone have any good suggestions for one? Or would a messenger bag be better? I do like messenger bags, but they are kind of annoying because they always bounce around when I walk since I'm a pretty fast walker.

I personally hate tote bags. The straps are always super short and they fall off your shoulders. Messenger bags are much easier for me. And to cut down on the bouncing. tighten the strap so the bag is as close to your body as is comfortable. The shorter strap will lessen the amount of room the bag can move.

Backpacks are really useful though…especially if you ever carry a laptop. I didn’t use one at all in high school either (nobody did), but everyone in college uses them.

My advice is to have a few different types of bags though.

I don’t see much of anything besides backpacks over here. Messenger and tote bags are deffinately more present with girls than guys. If you were a guy I wouldn’t reccomend using one. You just look like a bag of wrenches otherwise known as a toolbag.
