Best Undergrad Economics

Or you want a PhD in econ, in which case it makes no sense to do a business major.

Emory has an excellent undergraduate business school.

It's ranked 5th in the nation according to businessweek for 2009

My son is facing a similar issue

So far, he has been admitted to the business schools and the honors programs at

Rutgers
Pittsburgh
Northeastern

He just got an email yesterday from UMD at CP, saying he's a highly qualified student, so I would say it is likely that he will get in there.

He also has applied to

UMich (deferred - so still waiting)
UVa
William & Mary
American
Duke
SUNY Binghamton
UNC (rejected)

Part of his choice will be how good each of their Business/Economic departments are.
If he gets into UMIch or UVa, he will probably go because they both have undergrad b schools in the top 5- but they are long shots. Even if he gets in to Duke, he will probably not go due to finances.

Any suggestions about the rest?

I agree with the poster that mentioned taking business over econ. Unless you are at a top 25 university that has name recognition in the business world then I wouldn't risk an econ degree, just get business-finance or business-accounting.

Unless of course, you want a government job.

I'd want the same jobs a Business major wants, but I don't know how Grad Schools (MBA) would view the Business major over the "more intellectual" Econ major.

I've heard mixed things :(

Say if I'm not going to a Top 25 or even a Top 50 college, what's better? Econ or Business?
