Best way to send documents?

Son has several documents due by Dec. 1. I am afraid that if we send them by regular mail we won't be able to verify that they were received in time to be able to send another one if they were not. I read somewhere that registered mail isn't good because the colleges don't process those letters in the same way, causing them to be lost in the system sometimes (don't know how true that it). I appreciate your insight.

You could try sending them via FedEx. For a small additional fee, request it to be mailed with Return Receipt option. Someone will have to sign when the documents are delivered. You will receive a postcard in the mail with the time they were received and a copy of the signature of the person who received the documents.

Send it regular USPS. If a doc ends up missing (very unlikely), they’ll contact you or the school to re-send. First class mail is very reliable.

I also don’t believe the “handling registered mail differently” thing. Here’s how it’s done: Atop the stack of normal delivered mail are the few registered letters. The officer worker signs off on the registered letters. The mail carrier hands over the entire stack. The office worker just opens it along with the rest of the stuff. Simple.
