So, basically I am doing great on Critical Reading except for vocabulary (in sentence completions and once in a while vocab in the passage based reading section). I only miss a couple at most in passage based reading, but the vocab really brings me down as I miss 3-5. What do you guys feel is the best way to study vocab for the March SAT and for future SATs?

make flashcards. index cards are usually pretty big so i cut each of them into 4 smaller ones and make flashcards out of them. this way, i can take them anywhere.

I am pretty much in the same situation as you.

I studied DH Vol.1&2

I ended up with an 800 in CR - with two missed Sentence Completion questions.

That’s really the best I could hope for, as I am an international. There were always some words I wouldn’t get.

I take a few medium-sized notecards and use them to study vocab. 10 words on one side, the definitions on the back. I also write a sentence (blending the word into daily use, not just “A word that means hostile is inimical”) next to each word.

This way lets me “quiz” myself on my words. One other tactic is to incorporate these words into everyday life and schoolwork. I frequently use SAT words in my english essays, and not only does it help to reinforce memorization and understanding, but it impresses my teacher.

Mneumonics (probably spelled wrong) also help. Think of a picture, rhyme, or song, and incorporate your words into it.

However, different people learn differently. Experiment with memorization techniques. And it’s been said before, Direct Hits Volume I/II are recommended.

When you say “SAT words”, are you referring to a list or what?

Also, how long are the DH books?

About 200-300 words if I remember correctly (could be off).

And yes I mean by a list. There are plenty of free word lists online, plus a few from Princeton Review, Direct Hits, etc.

I’m in the same situation. Do you guys know what’s the best list of words to study?

I would like to know the same as crackmaster. There seems to be a ton of different lists.

So I am
I need a help in studyin’ Vocab
I am an International Student and I don’t have a DH in ma Country
