ok so i scored a 1080 on the dec test, what are some of the best ways of raising the score by about 200 points? just post some techniques or ANYTHING at all that can help... thanks

eat boiled eggs every morning for the last week, make sure they are fully cooked (not runny) and also, do not eat bacon or anything fattening, last but not least, study!!!!

How much did yo study before? What you can do to raise your score depends on what you've already done. I have a lot of friends who are totally clueless the night before the test, and I always tell them to take the practice test. I raised my ACT score 4 points over my PLAN projected ACT score this way. It works for anything, but the boost from it only works once on a test. Of course, you've done that now; you've taken the test. Beyond learning the format of the questions, which any good test prep book can tell you, the best thing is just to practice. Math is learned by doing math; vocabulary is learned by reading good literature. Any good test prep book will tell you what material is on the test; your job is to practice with it. Good luck!

Which section do you need to improve in?

I think that it requires a lot of studying on your part. I wouldn't suggest taking prep classes or anything like that. Buy a couple of prep books and study the basic arithmetic, geometric, and algebraic concepts for math. The type of questions you receive on the verbal portion are completely random, so the only thing you can really do is study as many vocabulary words as you can. That's what I did, and it helped lots. The first time I took the SAT, I only got about an 1180...but the second time I got 1340 by working as hard as I could.

550 math 530 verbal... i didnt study at all the first time around

Most importantly, you should familiarize yourself with the test by using the 10 Real SAT book. Also, Xiggi has posted wonderful advice, both on the old forum and the new one. If you search the SAT forum for posts by Xiggi, you should be able to find useful info. I think I remember seeing a list of 13 words somewhere...
Good luck!

Practice, practice, practice, practice, practice.

Someone here mentioned the act of eating boiled eggs, he was wrong; eat, drink, breath, and sleep SAT for the entire week.

And yes, you can boil the SAT if you wish, but the yolk is not good for your health.

Here is the link to Xiggi's list: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=24054&page=3&pp=20. Page 3 has the words to study.
