Best/Worst Admission/Rejection Letters

its not harvard or anything but i got into ASU and they sent it in a big envelope with a certificate, letter and viewbook i already have.

but it was the first acceptance and has put my mind at least a little bit at ease knowing i will attend some sort of higher education upon graduation.

whether it's harvard or ASU, you still did a good job. congrats.:-)

UGA has an animated fireworks graphic and a big "Congratulations!" on their online decision page.

Georgia Tech - nice big "You're a yellow jacket!" packet

UNC - Boring rejection letter
Cincinnati - Boring (THIN ENVELOPE) acceptance letter

Columbia mails you a copy of a book that you have to read before school starts (if you're accepted)

and the rejection letter is rather crappy as well

you don't HAVE to read it. It's suggested.

Princeton's letter said they'd send us pre-frosh info by the end of december ... I don't think they've even mailed it yet  .. lying bastards :p

Miami,OH was a letter on my admitance to the Honors programme...
My official letter and package will arrive on Feb 1st

My other 8 cols are still pending.....

My friend got a rejection letter for ED Colgate, and it was comforting to her. It mentioned that it was particularly difficult to reject her because she is a legacy through her grandfather. She thought it was the best rejection letter possible.

My boyfriend got accepted to West Point, and got a certificate for the offer of admission in a really nice folder. His mom's comment: "It's nicer than my diploma!"

My two letters for EA acceptance were fine, I was mostly excited to get in. (Georgetown and BC).

This is a fun topic!

DD just got a very nice folder from U of San Diego. It included two letters, both very very nice, and some information for accepted students..oh and a car decal. The front said "Welcome to the Class of 2010". She was favorably impressed with the packet. Her top choice school sent a really nice letter, but that's really IT. She's hoping that when she attends the accepted student's weekend there will be more "stuff" for her.

My daughter got accepted to Bennington last year and got a long sleeve T shirt, maple syrup and a cookie along with her letter.

The Notre Dame packet has a folder of info. The cover has blue sky, a small picture of the "Dome," and the words, "WELCOME HOME."

Auburn's acceptance letter wasn't really exciting. And they were begging for the deposit 3 weeks later. I won't be attending.

Uh, I should clarify. I recieved my acceptance letter on Monday, January 16th. The deposit is due February 1st, which is too little time for me to make a decision, even if it is refundable.
They have also called twice to "talk to me" and gently remind me about the deposit. I don't like that :(

surfalicious...they can't make you pay before the regular deadline of may...you have to ask..but they're legally obligated to allow you to pay along with everyone else...unless it was early decision.

I've gotten three acceptance letters so far (waiting on NYU) and Georgetown's was by far the best acceptance...and not only because they were my first choice! The letter itself was admittedly bland and enclosed in a small envelope, but within two weeks I had recieved two letters of congratulations from two of the alumnis in my area (one comforted me saying that the DC cold won't be TOO much of a shock after the Florida warmth). Then, near Christmas, I got a beautiful hand-signed card with a picture of the snowy, lit-up campus. Since then I have gotten a letter from the dean saying how the admissions committee admired my volunteer efforts. Yeah- it's no tshirt, but I already have one that I've been wearing almost nonstop since my admissions letter came anyways, lol.

UF sends a large packet that has a see-through window on the envelope so you can see the admission letter that says you got accepted, and Tulane sends a long letter in a small envelope. Tulane follows up their letter with some other stuff as well but most of it seemed like they were trying to convince me that the campus is even better after Hurricane Katrina.

Oh and I forgot- I got a phone call from a Georgetown freshman the night I got my acceptance letter. It was mostly congratulatory but she answered all my questions and stuff like that. Just a nice gesture that I thought made up for the formal, somewhat impersonal letter.

Cochrynn makes good points - there are "extras" that Georgetown sends along afterward. I got a handwritten card as well, and a phone call. Just today they sent another letter about Model UN saying they were impressed with my participation and telling me about their International Relations Club. After my acceptance my interviewer also send me a card.

Brown's waitlist letter was really nice, as was the waitlist rejection letter that followed a few weeks later, haha. They said something like "You are as much as a loss for Brown as you are a gain for another school." Although, I must admit that I hate when colleges say things like that, 'cause it makes you want to scream "Then why didn't you just take me???"

Cornell's letter was my favorite, informing me that I could apply to transfer there the next year, which I thought was hilarious(ly presumptuous).

funny...
My miami letter was weird. I had to read it through 2 times to understand it. The fact that I got in was interlocked and hidden inside. Why not make it bold???????

waiting06, i didn't know that. i wasn't really pleased with the way Auburn presented itself to me.
