sometimes, ignorance is bliss

If you call them, UCSD tells you why you got rejected.

Hello, unfortunately, you did not gain admittance into Princeton.

Reason for rejection:

From what we gathered from your personal essay, teacher recommendations, and extracurriculars (BAND???!!!!) we decided your personality / character was unsuitable. For this school. But I'm sure your terrible nature will be fine for community college, ??

bottom of Caltech acceptance letter warns against senioritis...

i was diagnosed with cancer the day after i got my stanford rejection letter

I think most acceptance letters warn against senioritis, especially ED/EA acceptances.

schoolismylife: I'm sorry. That's about one of the worst things someone could experience.

MIT EA deferral wasn't bad, but it would've been cooler if acceptances also came in thin envelopes, and not giant tubes, so that when we saw the letter, we wouldn't just go "Oh."

And if they were all thin envelopes, no mailing problems! :)

Wow, at first I really have got a bad impression with MIT as I thought that most people there are either nerds or just someone who dont know how to enjoy life!! ;) Well, guess I am really wrong when I saw MIT's acceptance/ Blogs... It's pretty cool I guess! :)

schoolismylife- That is really horrible and nasty. You should go throw rotton tomatoes at Stanford. I really hope you get better soon :)

schoolismylife - are you making this up or are you serious??

If adcoms were downright mean...

It's not about if they're mean or not, it's about whether they want themselves to be in hot water. If a college really sent rejection letters like that, there are much evidence to make an intentional infliction of emotional distress tort claim. And the college would get nationally (in)famous.

sorry i was just kidding, but the latter is true. hopefully, i'll have a chance to cut down a redwood tree one day to exact revenge.

Grrrrraaaaeeeeeeeeee

Oh. Well, then.

...

sorry for fooling you IzzyJ. thanks for being empathetic though :)

I think 80% of the rejection reasons would be "You are okay but other people are better" and it would be kind of harsh to write that.

Yeah, but here's what I think they should do...

GPA: acceptable
Class rank: acceptable
SAT Is: acceptable
SAT IIs: not acceptable
Extracurriculars: acceptable
Admission essay: not acceptable

Something like that would let you know what you did wrong, without being THAT mean...

9 actually happened to my friend! She applied to a State school, and a letter came in the mail saying that she did not meet the academic standards. It said her 2.6 GPA and 900 SAT score just did not cut it. Her mom started screaming about how she was hiding her grades...

Turns out the school made a mistake and they sent her another letter accepting her. So all was good and fair :D

LMAO

Wow. That reallllly sucks! haha
