Better Housing Options with Early Decision?

My son is still on the fence about applying early decision. Does ED help with housing choices? Does it reduce your chance of being in a triple? Or does the housing process not begin until after both ED and RC are completed?

ED admits have first chance at the housing options. My niece was accepted ED and got into her first choice dorm. Housing options open before RD applicants are notified of the their acceptance, around February.

@Gumbymom : any idea if it reduces your chance for a triple? Or do they simple assign triples randomly after all rooms are doubled?

Funny…I just posted a similar question on another Cal Poly SLO thread

Applying early, you have a better chance of getting your housing choice. This current year, certain dorms were triples only (North Mountain), others had doubles & triples (Trinity, Santa Lucia, Muir, Sequoia, Fremont, Tenaya, Sierra Madre, Yosemite). Then there were the suites (Poly Canyon). http://www.housing.calpoly.edu/content/student_housing_freshman

@ocgolfdad: My niece specifically asked for a triple, but I would assume since you are applying for housing earlier than the RD admits, you would have a better chance at a double.
