Better to drop or not?

I think this is the correct forum but if its not please move it.

i would appreciate some advice on this if anyone is willing to give it.

I'm currently double majoring in finance and accounting and i have a gpa of around 3.45 and will graduate in may.

If i continue on with my double major most likely my cumulative gpa will drop down to 3.2 and i might not be able to graduate until december next year do to a class not being offered.

If i just continue on with my accounting degree i can most likely pull up my gpa to a 3.5 due to the fact i only have a few classes left (2) and i can take some fluff ones to boost my gpa.

so my question is what does everyone think is the better option, drop finance or stay the course and not graduate until december possibly but with a gpa of 3.2 instead of 3.5?

Thanks!

Honestly, it’s just personal preference. You have to consider three factors - early graduation vs. higher GPA vs. second major - and determine what is important to you.

I would say drop finance, because even though a second major would look good, so would a higher GPA, and you could also start working full-time earlier once you graduate.

By the way, I’m an accounting major too and really respect you for taking on two majors at once; that must be tough.

thank you for your reply!

it is tough and what makes it tougher is my gpa would really be 3.8 but my entire freshmen year of grades were transfer credit so they dont count. I am actually about 3 classes away from completing my finance portion but they will drag my gpa down vs what i could get from fluff classes(or other accounting classes).

I intend to go to grad school( to meet the requirements for a cpa) so i am thinking that a higher gpa would help me with that more then a double major and a lower gpa.

forget finance. get your cpa. at this point you point you probably have enough of a background in finance anyways that you could survive on your own out there. if you applied for a job in that industry. the higher gpa doesn’t hurt either. it already sounds like you don’t want to take the finance courses. so here’s two posts telling you to do whatever you already want to do. drop the double major and stick with accounting.
