Better to get A.S. then transfer or just transfer

Would it be better for me to get my A.S. and stay at my CC for another year or just transfer now and get my B.S?

Either way. It’s probably lower cost to finish out your AS but make sure all your credits will transfer. Talk to your transfer GC about the options.

what state are you a resident of? In CA I’ve heard that CC advisors suggest kids do this, but there is no advantage (at least in CA) of putting your future on hold for an extra year when the BS will render the AA degree essentially meaningless. Keep in mind, too, that the kids that go to a 4-year college the entire time don’t get an AA along the way and it doesn’t seem to hold them back any.

@mikemac, I thought CA schools won’t allow transfers from CC with <2 years of work.

That is true, you need to be a junior, I thought the OP was asking about a 3rd year at the CC.

You can transfer with as many years of CC as you want, but I can only transfer 70 of my units. The reason why i’m asking is because I got into UCSD but as a structural engineer while I truly want to become a Mechanical engineer. Have a chance to change majors but it’s not 100%. But if I go to my cc for another year I can transfer with an AS and as a mechanical engineer not a structural but I lose a year. But i’m also only 20 years old.
