Better to transfer from CC or go to UCSD as a freshman?

i guess you’re right, i finally decided to go cc instead, hopefully i get into muir, if i don’t i’ll be happy as well if i get into sixth

Will you go to Med-school? If not then go CC, if yes then go UCSD. Med schools don’t like you taking classes for them at CCs.

^^^
Med schools don’t like you taking classes for them at CCs? What a load of bull. It doesn’t matter where you take your lower division courses as long as they’re acceptable(from colleges) and that you do well in them.

Another thing is, who says you can’t network at a CC? I do it all the time. In fact, I’ve had professors in CCs who have attended Harvard, worked for major film companies, were social activists etc etc.

Sikanlee… dont even comment on what you dont know.

My best friends dad went to a community college out in some rural part of Oklahoma and went to Johns Hopkins Med. How could he have possibly gotten into one of the best med schools in the country if he went to a CC. Oh, I know… grades, thats pretty much all they care about

Sorry if the information I gave was wrong. My friend had to retake classes that he passed out of from credits from CC’s.

I think your friend’s dad was quite a few years ago, and there’s always exceptions.

But, I have to agree that I don’t know much about it since I am not pre-med, it’s just what I’ve heard from friends who are. Sorry causing any frustration or confusion I may have caused you.

If your friend had to take any extra classes over that they already took at a community college it was only because of their carelessness. As a transfer from a cc, I know that it’s explicitly defined which classes are and are not UC transferrable.

depends on your major for your college and as well as if you should go straight there or to a cc, it is difficult getting into UCSD. After talking to a rep, they are impacting a lot more majors by the time you would be applying.

also there are a lot of transfer students that do go to UCs, they aren’t really the odd balls either. like you will have a group of kids going in just like you.

of course the experience will be better (depending on your definition of better) if you go straight to UCSD

What are the impacted majors at UCSD?

[Impacted Majors](http://www.ucsd.edu/current-students/academics/majors-minors/impacted-majors.html)
