For the Biotechnology program in the school of Engineering, both programs are quite similar. They vary greatly in cost however with nyu being lower due to more scholarships. I’m looking to go into biotechnology and pharmaceutical management/ consulting. Which of these two schools would be a better option?
How much is the cost difference? Never heard of NYU engineering.
I also have never heard of NYU engineering.
NYU’s Engineering School is called the Tandon School of Engineering. It is a pretty recent addition to the NYU system. However, they don’t seem as strong in biotech so I would choose Northwestern.
@IWannaHelp It’s about a ~ $40k difference in cost. And yeah they have the Tandon school of Engineering previously known as the NYU Poly.
@sciencenerd oh do you know how new the nyu program is? Like the engineering school. And is northwestern worth the cost difference?
@Publisher hmm
The NYU program used to be a separate AITU university originally called Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and later Polytechnic Institute of New York before being absorbed by NYU and becoming NYU Polytechnic. It is a well-established engineering school with a long history.
@xraymancs oh that’s interesting. Any preference?
Northwestern is a fine school too. I know a number of people there. Your chosen field is very specific so you need to look at which university gives you the kind of curriculum you need. You also should definitely consider the overall cost. If you are interested in jobs in the NY area then NYU is probably a better choice while Northwestern will be stronger in the Chicago area. With a Masters, it is important to find out the placement rates of the various programs. as well.
