I am having a hard time deciding which school i want to go. I want to study finance in school, but it seems northwestern doesn't have business program for undergraduates. But its Kellogg certificates for undergraduate is also really nice. I like to live in a big city. i love New York but i have never been to Chicago. i think Northwestern is more prestige in some way. but NYU is in a nicer city and the college life would be more exciting. Consider future job opportunities, which school is better for me? please help me decide.

Both of them are great schools and will most likely end up giving you similar opportunities. NYU Stern is very well known for finance(behind Wharton) and Northwestern is known to be more well rounded. Since you said you loved the city I’d say go for NYU.

While they will both give you the same caliber opportunities, NYU’s proximity to Wall street will more easily allow you to gain internships(you’ll still be able to get them at Northwestern but you might have to go slightly out of your way since most major firms are in NYC).

Good Luck!

While New York is a nice city (I’m visiting at end of month! wish me luck), Northwestern has an exceedingly nice campus. I’m talking, giant gothic churches and such. Beautiful scenery, an entire beach along the Michigan lakefront, and plenty of space to roam. Anyhow, I’m not sure if you’re just looking for a city or a campus (which NYU pretty much lacks), it all depends on your priorities.

On the job front, obviously, if you’re going to NU you’ll be recruited by Chicago firms, and by NY firms for Stern. Both are top places for jobs, although NY might pay better (but has higher living costs, so again, your priorities). If you really love NY and want to live in that city, I’d say NYU, for the job opportunities in NY.
