Beyond UCF?

Okay, I've decided to enroll at UCF in the fall #1 because of financial aid I was able to receive and #2 UCF isn't too shabby! But, I'm looking beyond undergrad...What are the odds I'll be able to transfer to let's say, UF? Maybe after my AA etc...? I feel a diploma from UF vs. UCF is much more advantageous for grad school. But, if I don't transfer to UF...what are my prospective grad schools with a diploma from UCF? Assuming, of course, me achieving great grades, which I know I will for I am intelligent and enjoy school in general (work butt off). So, hypothetically, graduating near the top of my 2016 class at UCF, where can I possibly go? And, if I graduate from UF, where can I possibly go? Tier-1, tier-2, or even Ivy? Or is all of this a pipe dream? This may not make much sense, but any feedback is greatly appreciated!

BTW: Major is Accountancy

Your undergraduate school doesn’t really matter as long as the program is of good quality/accredited when it comes to grad/professional school…

What they DO care about…

-Your GRE/GMAT score (or for anyone else reading this, MCAT/LSAT)

-Your resume. What makes you stick out as compared to others? Have you had internships or done research related to your field? How long? Were they with any top companies? etc.

-Your letters of recommendation. Most schools require at least two and asking for three isn’t uncommon. Are your professors etc. able to write a recommendation letter about you? Are they going to write one that’s going to make you stick out as a candidate?

-Your GPA. Did you do well with the given circumstances?

Those are all more important than the undergraduate school you choose to go to.

As for transferring to UF, the chances for getting accepted without an AA is low. With an AA, you compete with the CC students but it shouldn’t be an issue if you have good grades and are able to show that you are a worthy candidate for their school.

As for graduate school choices…Like I said, your undergraduate university doesn’t really impact the graduate school’s decision on accepting you. They care about how impressive YOU are, not the school.

Awesome post and great insight! Thank you!
