Hi! I’m auditioning for UNCSA next week (1/27). Does anybody here have experience with the audition?

Yes, it is very straightforward. Two monologues, one song and chatting at the end… they stay right on schedule and you cannot enter the audition room until your time (ie, if you are in the 7pm block, it won’t let you login until 7pm and then you wait…)

Thank you! Do they tell you which monologues to do? Because on the website they ask you to prepare three. Is it the classical monologue and either contemporary?

Yes they do. They actually had me do both of my contemporary. But I have a good friend who auditioned last week and they asked him to start with his classical monologue followed by a contemporary. Also - They have your artistic statement in front of them and they used it when chatting so pretty much all the questions they asked came from things I had discussed in my statement. Good luck!

Great to know! Thank you so much!

Has anyone not heard back from Fordham yet about their prescreen? Crickets here and callbacks start this weekend. Thanks for any info.

So, Unifieds weekend! Anyone else think that not having to deal with all of the in person auditions and the travel is not a bad thing? My son has Marymount today, UNCSA tomorrow, U Michigan friday, U Conn next saturday, Fordham next sunday and NYU Feb 3. There is no way that all of that would have happened if we were traveling for auditions!

Has anyone had their DePaul BFA Acting audition? Was there an interview process as well as presenting monologue?

Interested in info on Belmont BFA theater performance. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
My S had his callback. Monologue in a small group then some scene work. I think an informal Q&A. They’re lovely.

Thank you!!! What type do Q&A? Individual? Each place is so different.

Q&a was in a group setting as I recall. Each take turns doing monologues in front of each other then go into smaller breakout rooms for scenes. BAL!

Hi, my son had his callback audition yesterday for Ithaca (BFA acting). He said it was a pretty strange experience, not like other auditions/interviews he’s had so far. It was very quick and he wasn’t given much of a chance to talk to the faculty; he was only able to ask 1 question and they didn’t really ask him anything. I realize this could mean they aren’t interested in him, but I’m curious if others had a similar experience. Apparently they had a lot of technical difficulties yesterday, so perhaps that’s part of it. Thanks in advance!

Yes, same with us. My D had Boston, Temple, Carnegie Mellon this weekend, and a 6hr PSU audition event plus Syracuse last weekend. We would not have been able to do all that traveling. I am kind of bummed that we haven’t been able to visit some of the schools, particularly Northwestern, NYU, and Boston, because I love those cities. Hoping by spring, when we know where she has gotten in, we can visit before final decision.

S has us some similar experiences. Not much engagement so don’t know if that means they aren’t interested. Is it fair to say that if the faculty asked you a lot of questions then you prob get an acceptance. Can it really be that transparent? Would love to hear from pst applicants to see if that was the case! It sounds like DePaul wasn’t really a Q&A with faculty one on one. More in a group setting so no real interview

I wouldn’t read anything into it. My daughter and her friend auditioned for the same school on the same day. My daughter did 3 monologues, lots of chit chat, felt like it was a great audition. Friend did two, monologues with no chit chat felt it went “OK”. My daughter was deferred and her friend was accepted. We’ve learned to read nothing into the auditions - good or bad!

agree, my S had two auditions, one that went great and one that was meh, and got into both. It probably has more to do with the auditioners’ personality and time constraints than anything. And I have learned from this process, nothing makes a ton of sense so no point in looking too deeply into any of it!

I am hoping the same, we were lucky enough to go to Boston and see the schools there before Junior year, but if Northwestern and Michigan come through, there is no way that S can make a decision without ever walking on campus.
