BFA Acting Major Looking To Transfer

So, I think this is kind of a special situation because I’m currently attending a school that may or not not close down. It was a school that I felt was a great fit for me. I wanted a school that was smaller, had a film department that often used the actors in the theatre department, was in an area where I could get professional work out side of the school, and a program where I could really just focus on the acting aspect of theatre. Now since there is a possibility that my school may close down I’m looking for schools I can transfer to. What’s most important to me is finding a theatre program that will accept transfers (preferably into their BFA programs), and has a way for me to focus on acting even if I can’t transfer into a BFA maybe they have a BA with a specification in acting. I’m really open to all options here, I have no problem shooting for the stars and applying for big schools but I’m also okay with small but very reputable programs. Whatever works and is a good fit is all I’m looking for.

Are you in a BFA program now? My S’s school CCPA Roosevelt accepts a small number of sophomore transfers eac year into its BFA acting and BFA MT programs.

Yes I’m in a BFA program now. I actually transferred into this program I’m currently in so I’m kind of a junior now but I’m not super sure how my credits stand right now. I already know I won’t be graduating in the typical 4 years so that isn’t a concern for me.

Coastal Carolina University frequently accepts transfer students into BFA Acting and BFA MT. They also have a BA.

Oklahoma City does accept a few transfers and has a strong acting BFA as well as a BA in Theater and Performance with more modern digital applications. I believe Western Carolina and James Madison also accept transfers. Most of the conservatory-style programs make you do all 4 years, so your gen eds would transfer, but you’d still have to do 4 more years of college.
