@VASkydog D was waitlisted by UCSB as well :)).
@FourStars congrats! Thatās right in our backyard (or thereabouts) ā beautiful area, great weather of course, and plenty of gorgeous places to stay if you come to visit Donāt know a ton about the program, but I do know a couple actors who went there and speak highly of the school.
@FourStars wow congratulations! Santa Barbara is incredibly beautiful! I can imagine how fun college would be there. Your D has so many great choices
Oh I WISH my son applied to more than just one school in CA!! I would love him to attend a school not far away. Oh I hope USC comes through with good news! :((
@HopeinMT my daughterās only BFA acceptance was in CA and she ended up choosing her safety 3,000 miles away
@MTmom2017, @actorparent1 ugh, those stories. I propose that everyone on cc take a solemn vow that if our kids end up at Pace, Syracuse or Montclair, weāll give them the gentle feedback (or read them the riot act, whatever your style may be) that they really gotta to put the brakes on these painful mind games. It really doesnāt seem like it should be that difficult to refrain from such nonsense.
@HopeinMT My S too is applying USC BFA Acting and my ex-husband and I are both alumni. We are in San Diego so it would be nice to have him close and yes, I too already have a houseful of USC garb and tchotchkes.I have read all I can find about the postcard, hoping to find a glimmer of hope that he will be accepted. All I know is that no one has said that their child got the postcard and didnāt get in, (except for a few years ago when the first postcard was sent out in December, before auditions), so holding out hope. My S did get into the BFA Screen Acting program at Chapman which he is excited about, but USC would definitely be his number 1 choice. Good luck to your Son. Fight On !!
Hereās a funny Pace story several years back my D auditioned for there BFA Acting program in that year they had just adding the BFA Acting for Screen but, it seemed to be up in the air not much info on it and it was not even offered as a audition option weird right! Well she didnāt get into Acting but, what about that elusive Acting for Screen, so I called Pace and spoke to a lovely man about it not being an option at auditions and what was up? So he said would your daughter be interested in it and I said sure well a few days later she was accepted into a program she didnāt know about or even audition for. That same year one of her girlfriends did not get into PaceMT but, Carnegie Mellon took her so go figure!
@FourStars Congrats on UCSB - as an east coaster who is hating the snow more than ever, Iād have my D say yes to that admissionā¦ then Iād buy a tiny house and live right outside her dorm. Beautiful weather, perfect landscape, and be near my baby! Sound perfect - Not sure how the girls would feel. :)) Congratulations, your D has so many options!!!
@Londream2 I love that story. You taught your daughter the importance of persistence and tenacity. I hope sheās doing well now! And I also think your story has been mimicked many times over regarding there is really no easily distinguishable equation here. The day my daughter auditioned at Pace, two girls didnāt get called back for Pace but got called back for Juilliard. No point in trying to figure out what they are looking for. If this community hasnāt figured it out, no one will!! Ha.
@ginaf1102 , I actually used YOU as an example of that once! When my daughter was heartbroken over not getting the Rutgers callback, I told her āThereās a mom on CC whose daughter was called back for JUILLIARD, so sheās obviously extremely talentedā¦but she didnāt get a callback for Rutgers.ā As you said, thereās just no way to know what each school is looking for!
:x Thanks, @actorparent1. I love this. It is all about community here. I am glad we could help. :x
There should be a special May 1st cruise for all the parents who have gone through this process. It would be all-inclusive.
@FourStars - UCSB - itās right on the BEACH! Congrats to your D! @ginaf1102 - great idea!
@VASkydog - another great idea!
@hamparyanmomager Chapman has an amazing program!! I didnāt know a thing about it until it was too late to apply. I found these boards after November, ugh, my bad. At least you have that! Good luck to your son too! We have 4 more schools to hear from and this will be over: Northwestern, USC, NYU, and Pace for Film Acting & MT. They are all long-shots but at least if they are a NO we can finally close this chapter and move on.
Any current Boston University Acting students or parents out there with information about the rigors of their academics? My son is an average student coming from a PA high school. I know he would be good artistically, and with the theatre classes, itās the other coursework where I have concern.
@katew529 I graduated from Pace in 1986 and have been a long time donor. My oldest D graduated this past May. I really have been thinking of reaching out to them about this issue. This is funny (really not funny though), we are still getting calls about snow closings at Pace! Just last night three phones rang at onceā¦my cell, my husbandās cell, and the landline all notifying of the next dayās snow closing!
@Oaktree99 @Momw3boys has a son who is a freshman there. Send her a PM if she doesnāt see this and respond soon.
@ginaf1102 unfortunately, that tiny house you speak of would cost $1,000,000! We are from NJ and my D is in LA and trust me we talk about it and look at Zillow every time we are driving through a cute neighborhood there! NJ is expensive but CA is out of control.
On behalf of us, and many others, what is the current thinking on Pace BFA Acting, FTVC and IPE Acting ensemble? Do we think most acceptances are out? Are there more acceptances to come?
