BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@actorparent1 We loved Purchase too. My daughter’s slot was 11:00 and she got the AM callback. Were you there at this time? I looked around and made eye contact warmly with a few people thinking we might vibe and meet…I even mentioned CC in a cluster to see if it could be you but I got blank stares back haha!! My girl has a blond bob (cut recently for a play) and was wearing a black jumpsuit.

Really loved Purchase. That and UNCSA were the favorites ( we are done : ( ) but I am trying to keep daughter grounded in her expectations.

I don’t mean to add to the UNCSA innuendo but through the grapevine in that damn Green Room my D heard tonight that the UNCSA class has been picked and remaining calls will go out tomorrow evening. I do not know if this is true but she says it came from a current student who is very helpful to all the hopefuls.

I realize that everywhere we go I really love theatre kids (and their parents). Warm, smart, genuine, engaging and engaged. These kids are the future and true joy.

@laylamom “in that damn green room” :)) I took a glance in the greenroom and apparently after I did, my son got out of there and he would need to join again. I guess I was stressing out myself! haha. Thanks for the info about UNCSA. I hope Everyone on here who is waiting for UNCSA receive the final calls! This is all so stressful. I just don’t understand why they want us to suffer like this (:expressionless: We’re not finished with our auditions yet and I just wish before we leave out of there that they say YES OR NO… Don’t leave us all hanging like this. They are probably laughing at us because we are checking portals, social media etc like it’s our full-time job :))

My son will be auditioning next year at Julliard. He is straight acting, but has performed in 1 musical in high school. Do the auditors commonly ask all those auditioning for acting to sing something?

@collegeadmiss my d was not asked to sing, and has a lot of musicals on resume. Two of her classmates, who are not musical kids, were asked to sing something. None of them got called back.

Just make sure he has something. It doesn’t even have to be MT related. A pop song or a traditional song is fine.

Hi @collegeadmiss Yes! you will sing that song If they are curious. My son is not a singer and actually forgot a few of the words) I don’t believe they are looking to see if you can belt a song in the best way possible. I don’t know how they view things but if he’s not a singer and still received a callback, they must be looking for something else :slight_smile: BAL with your son :slight_smile:

@techmom99, please forgive me if you have answered this before but where is your son now? Im trying to figure out whom was at Suny Fredonia for tech and seems to really love it. I think their campus is quite lovely

@laylamom , we had the 1:30 pm slot at Purchase and arrived at 12:30. So you were gone by then. I should have thought to check time slots with you! I, too, was looking around wondering ‘Is Laylamom here?’ Would have loved to meet you!

@actingdreams -

Yes, my son is at Fredonia for tech. I have to thank my friend, whose son is a music ed major there, for turning us on to the school. My son is working hard but really enjoying himself. Are you considering Fred?

Just wanted to wish good luck to everyone waiting for notification from UNCSA! I have every finger and toe crossed for all of you! Hoping to see some excited happy posts tonight or tomorrow!

Complete new topic: Does anyone know how the “cut” system at West Virginia University BFA Acting works? My D visited and auditioned early on and we were very impressed with the dedicated arts building and the program itself. We sat in on a showcase for MT students and it was outstanding! A nice offer and great communications from school over past few months but my concern is I see only 10 graduates reported? I believe we were told a BFA class starts out with 16? I do plan to call the admissions counselor directly and when I asked at our visit I was told that there is not a “cut” number but there is an evaluation at the end of first year to determine if student is moving in positive direction. Was told a student would then go to BA if BFA evaluation was not positive. Any thoughts or experience with how this program works its “evaluations”? It appears to me there is solid dough going into their program and University support. I just cant seem to find a place where others are commenting on their actual experience in the program and why number how graduate seems low?

I don’t know about WVU, but I know that at my son’s program (BFA Theater tech), they took 16 in this year’s cohort and three or 4 have already left. One never showed up, another switched to the BA and two left for personal reasons. Apparently, one plans to return to the next BFA cohort and the other to the BA. I would surmise that this happens in most programs. So, all programs lose students and graduate fewer than start.

@Jamesdm25 No portal update. Fingers crossed for you!

@vpvpbp thank you!

@actingdreams, I got the impression the letters were rejections, but I don’t remember him specifically saying so.

Thanks @KarenK99. I hope everyone receives a call. This group deserves all of the acceptances. In my opinion of course :slight_smile:

Deleted post. (it was just a silly dream I had) I assume you cannot completely delete a post.

@ginaf1102 Hang in there. It’s over now :slight_smile:

I’m sorry. I was just kidding. It was a dream I had. I am going to delete my post.

If you want to increase your audition/school choices right now. AAMDA and Cornish College of the Arts are both auditioning for acceptances (pending space availability but as of last Friday, there were some openings) . Cornish College also gives out generous talent $$ and the campus is nice

@actorparent you didn’t walk around Purchase asking anyone if they were @laylamom :))
