@actingdreams Sorry…didn’t mean to confuse. I can’t keep my head clear these days. NO, not an acceptance from Ithaca…hence why I was asking how notifications were being sent out She did receive an acceptance from Millikin, BFA Acting though! That was via snail mail in a very small envelope that I was certain was a rejection! Still waiting on Ithaca…and many others. UGH
@jenniferm1973 Congrats on the Millikin acceptance! I hear great things about that program. Good luck with the waiting game.
@jenniferm1973 I think I posted this on the MT thread (I can’t keep track anymore
@jenniferm1973 I apologize. Its still nice to see that you have some acceptances! Congratulations for those
@laylamom I hear you! Ugh! So not myself. I had to make a declaration to my husband last night that I am going to try and focus on myself this week. My children are healthy (S has epilepsy - so I obsess about him - but he OK!) and there is nothing more I can do for D. Auditions are over and obsessively looking for emails and snail mail doesn’t make the decisions happen faster.
I started a new eating plan this week and really going to be mindful about my health and well being. Moms often forget about that. At least I do.
I’ll let you know how long I last! Be well!
@laylamom that sucks. Perhaps that was a sign to still keep the faith
Thanks @ginaf1102 I admire what you are doing. Wise Mother !
AGIDA!
sorry to clutter the thread but I spelled wrong in haste- agita.
@laylamom , that was just cruel! Bad Mr. Poole! Lol.
@ginaf1102 , I admire you and hope you can keep it up! I am driving myself crazy and don’t know how I’m going to get through the next four weeks! (All the schools said they’d notify around March 15.) S has Brooklyn College audition this Friday, and D has Montclair on Saturday, so that’s something to focus on, and then on March 3 D has UArts, so we’ll have a fun road trip to Philadelphia. After that, there’ll be nothing to do but stalk the mailman and refresh email constantly!
@jenniferm1973 not sure what happened to the rest of my post about Ithaca!
What was left of it was this: We were there saturday, last day of auditions. She said no yesses have gone out, but they would start their decision making process immediately. And I do not believe she mentioned HOW they would be notified.
Rejection letter in the mail from Ithaca today. Small envelope. Sort of a relief, as none of us here were that excited about traveling there for a visit, let alone getting there to attend school … sounds like a lovely area, a great program, but I’m relieved we don’t have to think about it anymore.
@laylamom ugh-- that smarts. My D got a phone call congratulating her for her admission but it was just one of the those courtesy calls from students for academic acceptance. I felt so bad because she was elated for about a minute! I totally understand but wish the schools could be like Hartt in not communicating at all unless to say you’re in or not.
@laylamom We had the same envelope addressed to the parents of our D. This was the day AFTER my D received her rejection letter from UNCSA…bad timing…especially when they come from the same department…
@FourStars -Did your D get a phone call? My S missed a call this afternoon. Quentin left a message asking him to call. By the time my S got out of a rehearsal and called back, there was no answer. – Now he (and his dad and I) are anxious to hear…
I’m hoping they will not call with rejections. Right? I would not want to talk to someone I am declining…
@STHmom It is my understanding (from current students at UNCSA) that accepted students were called last night and students on the waitlist were called today. Rejections are sent by mail. So good news
@STHmom. I’m messaging you. Yes it’s Quin who calls for acceptance and waitlist. Rejections are mailed.
@STHmom that’s great…It’s at least a waitlist call! My D got one of those last year as well! Fingers crossed for your S!
Re: Elon, we were at same audition date in early Feb and my daughter didn’t come out with any clear sense of 1-2 weeks. In looking at last year’s results, it was almost exactly 3 weeks from last audition date to results being reported. I expect to hear this week.
Regarding the BA/BFA argument…my D really was not a BFA all the way kid when she applied last year to 23 schools, although yes most were BFAs. In the end her final decision was between the BA at Loyola Marymount and the BFA at caLARTS. She really wanted to be in California. So anyway, when we landed in LAX on move-in weekend we briefly had a conversation with the couple in front of us on the plane, just standing there waiting to disembark. Not sure how it even came up but we mentioned we were moving our D into college and of course she asked where and what she was studying. After we told her she said “I teach at caLARTS”. We couldn’t believe what a coincidence so of course my D told her that she almost went there but chose the BA instead. Her answer? “You did the right thing! Actors should be well rounded.” What a nice validation and perfect timing! Not to say there are not drawbacks but a BFA is not a guarantee of success, especially judging from the article that was posted here on the 50 top actors. My D’s agent actually has her BFA in MT from Pace LOL!
