BFA Acting Pre-Screen and Auditions. Class of 2022 - Sharing!

@mtmaybe so happy for you!

I am happy to say, in fact super happy, that my D got an email today from Scott Zigler and she is WL at UNCSA. It is one of her top choices, so while not quite as exciting as a full-on acceptance, there is still hope. It is so late in coming because she needed to send in proof of citizenship. She also joins the ranks of those rejected by CMU. I know she is much happier to be WL at UNCSA than she is sad about a rejection from CMU. What a bumpy ride this has been!
I hope we hear of someone getting accepted to CMU!

Congratulations, @breakingbarriers2018 ! Fantastic news!

@mtmaybe Many congrats! So Iā€™m a lurker, and CC is such a great resource for us super small town peeps that are [slightly] overwhelmed by this whole process. My D is anxiously awaiting her program decision from IWU BFA Acting. She auditioned on campus on March 3. Was it BFA Acting or MT? How did you find out?

Congrats @breakingbarriers! That is terrific news!

Fabulous @breakingbarriers2018! Waitlist means still in the hunt!!

Anyone have the scoop on Columbia College - Chicago? My D has been looking at them but I donā€™t see much talk about the school. Her theater teacher seems to like the program and endorses it but as I donā€™t see many people talking about it this concerns me. Any help?

@diamondntheruff I also auditioned on March 3rd-I wonder if I met your daughter! So I actually submitted prescreens for both but didnā€™t pass my MT one and so I auditioned for acting. My letter, however, says I was accepted into BFA MT, so I am extremely confused at the moment. I called my admissions counselor who said I was definitely accepted to one of the BFA programs but heā€™s also confused by my situation because ā€œhe couldā€™ve sworn it was for MTā€ so itā€™s all very odd. Sorry for the long explanation, but I only know it was for a BFA performance program as per my admissions counselor, but not sure what.

^oops and I found out via snail mail

@mtmaybe Very exciting! Congrats! My D was there by herself. She originally submitted a prescreen for MT and did not pass. She then was invited to prescreen for Acting and was invited to audition. She loved IWU. Hoping to get something in the mail soon! Weā€™re in Northern CA so snail mail can definitely take awhile!

@diamondntheruff I think I met her-is she brunette? I think she mentioned being in a musical right now but I canā€™t remember which one.

@BrokeDad0530 columbia accepts everyone. The dorms are beautiful but the college itself is very expensive. They are good for Film/Tech but not for drama, acting etc. right now, they have kids as extraā€™s a lot of the time. Anyone can be an extra here in Chicago but I witnessed how the extras work when a TV show was filmed at my home for 2.5 weeks. Youā€™re there as an extra from 7 am and leave promptly at 5pm. You are not allowed to connect with the producers or dirctors however the 2 acting students that we know seem to like it or it could be that they love being in Chicago and see the entire experience through different lenses. I donā€™t know everything however I dont see Columbia College being a school that sets your kid up with a solid foundation when leaving. The tuition is steep and Iā€™m unsure about scholarships

My daughter missed a call from Pace today and she called back and got a recording. No idea if it was admissions or theatre. Did anyone else hear today? Itā€™s so hard when you are waiting for call and itā€™s just admissions (and you are already accepted!!). That has happened numerous times.

@mtmaybe Yes, sheā€™s brunette. Sheā€™s just starting rehearsals for a regional rep company production of Next To Normal as Natalie. And sheā€™s in rehearsals for her high school spring melodrama dinner theatre. She loved her time there. Itā€™ll be a bummer if she doesnā€™t get in but rejection is something all you strong-willed actors and actresses handle well! I could not! If she doesnā€™t get in, she will likely pursue one of a couple other options for a BM in Voice with either a BA in theatre or minor in theatre. It will be exciting to see where you landā€¦in the BFA MT or BFA Acting program!

@0827NJ also got a call from pace but missed it. not sure what thatā€™s supposed to mean!

@0827NJ @kalpallol We got one as well ā€“ a Pace student asking if my D is considering attending Pace. Nothing to do with the BFA programā€¦

We also got the generic Pace call today!

My S got received an email today from CMU saying he is being redirected to BFA Acting from MT. Iā€™m curious to know if he will still have singing opportunitiesā€¦he needs to sing! does anyone have more info.
He also got into IWU BFA musical theaterā€¦found out today as well!!

Congratulations to all the CMU WL! That is such an honor.!! And congratulations to all who have gotten acceptances over the last few days. And, enormous hugs to all who are still waiting. Big, big hugs to you!!!Today has been beyond crazy and reminds me to keep this all in perspective! My S totaled his car on the freeway this morning while driving to school. No one was injured but the car is probably done. I ended up picking him up at school about an hour later because he was rattled. The first thing he said when he climbed in the car wasā€¦And, I did not get into CMU either. My heart sank so low because he could have seriously injured someone or himself, but these were the words from his mouth. The pressure of this all is so tremendous that it is all too easy to become completely absorbed in the process. I am so guilty of this! At 3:00 he called me(had returned to school at lunch) to let me know he just opened an email from Texas State and he has been accepted for the BFA Acting. Any other day I would be attempting cartwheels, but the impact of this morning is still just beneath the surface. And, yes I am so happy for him, but I am even happier that he is okay. Because, that is what really matters. All of these kids are going to be fine wherever they land. Best to all!

@frontrowmama, what a harrowing day! Iā€™m so glad your son wasnā€™t hurt (or anyone else!) So scary. Talk about putting things in perspective! Itā€™s true, there are definitely MUCH more important things than what college one gets into - thanks for that sobering and necessary reminder.

(But at the same timeā€¦congrats on Texas State!)
