I am a junior and someone recommended this program for me, i have checked out CMU's website and everything, but i was wondering if anyone here knows anything about it. (i.e, stats, if it is good or bad, etc)

It is amazing

The stats are shown here: http://my.cmu.edu/site/admission/menuitem.edce48707aab43c019300710d4a02008/

do u go there acceptedalready?

also...according to those stats only 55 ppl applied and 46 of them got in. in addition the sats and gpa are among the highest for any cmu program..do u think this accurate? do u know any other info? (sorry if i am being a pain)

2011!
My son was also interested in this program last year. As I understood their explanation, the BSA and BHA degrees are geared toward people that have an idea of how two areas of interest will blend to be combined into one degree. It was not meant to be just a glorified double major, but an actual plan for a melded degree. If you apply to these programs, you are asked to write an essay on your study intentions.

lkf725-
did ur son end up applying... why or why not? What was his expereince? (lol-sry this sounds so essay-promptish...i am just REALLY curious)

Yes, he applied. He was accepted to BSA, CFA, CIT, MCS and HSS. We were so happy for him, as CMU was his first choice as long as I can remember. But CMU offered us almost no financial aid, and surprisingly offered my son no merit aid. We are middle class and just could not reasonably afford it. Honestly, I am still heartbroken for him at this lost opportunity. I think CMU is a great school for the right person.

oo..i am sorry, i hope he is happy now,

i am in a simular boat, my father is a doctor (in an inner-city underpivleged, clinic where he only speaks spanish), while my mom is in public health. however, my dad's MD prevents us from getting any aid.

if ur not super wealthy or really poor, finacial aid is horrible...i don't know what i will do...thanx for ur help

Thanks 2001! He is happy and successful because that's just the kind of person he is. He studies all of the things that interest him and I think CMU passed up a really remarkable student. Well, the good news is that if you are a smart person with talent, you will be smart and talented anywhere. A college admissions committee or financial aid committee can't take that away from you.

CMU is not know for being very generous with financial aid, but your results may differ! I must say, some folks in the financial aid office were kind of arrogant and not very nice to deal with. But overall, the CMU people were great and if you can afford it, go. Don't judge the whole university based on a couple of individuals.

Maybe my son will attend CMU or other expensive private institution for graduate school. At least we will be able to afford it (or the debt) then!

The BHA/BFA program is highly self selective in applicants. Almost all the applicants are of SCS quality (being top 4-5% of their class and having over 1400s on their SATS on the old scale). These applicants have to be admitted in BOTH CFA and MCS.

I know only one person in this program and he is very happy with this selective program that has about 20 spaces a year.
