Bhangra at WashU and nearby gurdwara

Is there any scene for a bhangra team at WashU? And how many of you punjabis going to WashU next year?

Or have any of you current or prospective students seen people walking around with fully grown facial hair and turbans?

I’ve seen less than five in my past four years at Wash U.

There is a Bhangra team that performs at WashU’s annual Diwali celebration (which is VERY popular on campus). Additionally, I believe they travel to competitions during the spring semester.

I am now at WashU and a member of the WashU Bhangra team. For any prospective students thinking about WashU, our bhangra team is pretty good. We Attended a competition in Chicago and competed against some of the best teams in the country, we have also gotten into a smaller competition for the spring. We have about 12 members, 6 guys and 6 girls. We also perform at Diwali on campus. One of our dancers who will be graduating this year dances for First Class Bhangra and helped take the team to the next level. I look forward to continuing his legacy albeit I don’t have as much bhangra experience as him. I look forward to learning as much as I can though. I am the dholi this semester, but look forward to dancing starting next semester. We are planning on starting a “B” team or junior varsity team for on campus events. We’ll see how that plays out.
