bhangra

the "indian people" thread led me to doing this. so i'm south indian right [no--im not dark, you stereotypical freaks], but yeah i have no idea about good bhangra music other than mundiyan to bachke. honestly, my bhangra playlist is pathetic on itunes.

i honestly love bhangra though<3 ... my sweet 16 was all bhangra with random hiphop songs and now all my non-indian friends are doing that too cause honestly who wants to listen to rap for 3 hours? and the dj played really good songs but i never heard them again afterwardss..

so songs and artists, pleaseee?

oh and this local radio station that always comes on the last day of actual school before finals ALWAYS plays mundiyan to bachke.

OMGGGG...im like a bhangra freak...and im having my sweet sixteen filled with punjabiness this june too! haha

well, my fav artists are lehmber hussainpuri (he has all the greatest hits), check out malkit singh if u want classics (like gor naal ishq mitha), bally sagoo has great remixes, and there is also hans raj hans (kind of more folk) as well as sarbjeet cheema ( i love some of his songs...namely the one called "bhangra").

There are lots of gidha songs too... im guessing ur a girl b/c of ur sweet sixteen party, but definitely check out gidha if u want something more folk!

Good bhangra? Isn't that an oxymoron? : )

tunak tunak.

jkjk.

I'm south indian too and i too really need some good bhangra music.

When I sat in on a class at Scripps College, the prof talked about bhangra music and it sounded interesting. I'm Russian, so I had never heard of it before, but it sounds very intriguing!

do you guys know how to do banghra? i feel deprived b/c i never learned it, even though I'm not punjabi.

I just looked bhangra up on youtube; good stuff. I've heard it a lot before, but never knew what it was called :D It has a style similar to hip hop.

well, all my friends go to holi every year [yes, including the non-indian ones] except this year because some idiot decided to put it the day of sats. and yeah, i know how to bhangra. i can dandiya&garba too but i'm not that great at it.

i'm not really into the folk type -- i want more punjabi mc, hip hop sounding like stuff. kangna by dr. zeus is pretty good too. but gore naal ishq mita is pretty okay too.

I wanna do Bhangra in college. Hopefully I can get into it pretty quickly. I have a friend who does it a lot and has competitions and such.

OMG ME TOOOOO!

my friend goes to UCSC and she isnt on the bhangra team right now cause it doesnt fit her schedule but she said she's definitely doing it next year. it's really big in cali.

bhangra is awesome one of best teams is bhangra empire form bay area

Lol, there’s a couple kids at my school that do bhangra. But I’m more of a dandiya/ garba person. …which makes sense since I’m gujarati.
Are you guys all Bay Area too? lol.

LOL, but what is with people bumping ancient threads? I tried it once. It really isn’t that much fun.

yeah thats where all the bhangra pride’s at haha, bhangra is awesome and its a traditiontal dance there are so many great bhangra teams out there

if you want good bhangra music listen to miss pooja amrit saab and there is so many out there
:)

I’m gujarati too. I would try some classic Imran Khan. His music is great.

=O im a bhangra fanatic…i CANNOT wait to join a team when I go to college!

I love sukshinder shinda, punjabi mc, sarbjeet cheema (traditional), miss pooja, even jay sean/rishi rich had some great mixes back in the day lol

all the ucs have great bhangra teams, imran khan has more hip pop mixed with his bhangra, but miss pooja, amrit saab have great songs Go Bhangra Empire
