I just got denied from BHP, even though I got an interview. Did this happen to anyone else?
Same situation. Top 1%. 34 ACT. Confused what happened and why
this really sucks… hopefully I can get into BBA and then transfer into BHP
I am sorry it didn’t work out. I was told they expect between 1600-2000 applicants for BHP. Around 400 will get interviews. They will admit to get a desired yield of 120 or so. I do not know how many acceptances they offer to get down to 120ish. Would it be 2 for 1 or less. No idea, just sharing to give some perspective…
Just was expecting atleast a deferral…
same @lolpleaseplease
Very sorry to hear that. My fingers are crossed. How did you learn about this? Was is updated on your dashboard or email?
I got an email
Please be happy regarding your admission to McCombs. It’s a big deal. My S is in McCombs and Plan II but was also denied BHP today. He did have a phone interview but the young woman was very robotic and the questions were scripted. I give small weight to the value of phone interviews after my son’s call. The denied email today said that their AVERAGE stats were top 2% class rank and a new SAT score of 1490 +.
I havent gotten an update about mccombs tho @Notknot77098
Yeah so that’s exactly why it is even worse. I was in both of these categories and still unable. Do not know what could’ve done wrong, maybe interview. Also do you know anyone who has been deferred?
I was deferred @lolpleaseplease … 34 ACT, Top 2%, Great involvement within school and lots of leadership. In State
Did u have an interview?
Yeah interview October 26 McCombs acceptance November 18.
Yep, I got an interview and was accepted into McCombs but was denied. Even though I understand that denial was always one of the possibilities, I still feel pretty upset and bummed out about it. Mostly I’m afraid that I’ll end up at UT Austin anyways if other apps don’t go well and I’ll have to deal with being surrounded with evidence of my failure for four years.
@ellaelei If you end up at UT, you will be surrounded by others envious of you walking into the McCombs building when they weren’t offered admission and when you go home for holidays you will be surrounded by classmates envious that you spent a semester at UT Austin when they weren’t offered admission. You have amazing accomplishments…congrats!
Also, we can always try for sophmore BHP
@CollegeParent123 I appreciate the kind words. Logically, I completely agree with what you’re saying; McCombs even without BHP isn’t bad at all. And I don’t mean to imply that UT is a bad school at all either; mostly I think the visceral emotional reaction was because of the initial disappointment. Anyways, after taking a long nap and coming to my senses, I realize that even if I did get into other schools, the price for UT Austin is still pretty unbeatable.
