BHP Internal Transfer Prospects

Hello everyone, I am currently in the college of liberal arts, trying to transfer into McCombs and hopefully BHP. I have heard that leadership is the heaviest weighing factor, but can this make up for a lower than average GPA(Lower than average for BHP)? Also, is the interview important? I am very confident in my communication and interviewing abilities and think I could really kill the interview. Anyways, I'll be applying with the following...ANY feedback would be great.

GPA:3.6377
GPA Hours: 25
Total Hours: 56

Leadership/Teamwork (Please let me know if you think this is a strong leadership track record, I feel it is but I could be underestimating the competition).

Boy Scouts of America - Philmont Trek Leader
-Elected by 14 teammates to lead a 2 week, 80 mile backpacking trek in northern New Mexico
-Formulated and assigned day to day tasks based off of teammates' relevant strengths and weaknesses, and oversaw the completion of said tasks on a team and individual level.
-Resolved conflicts between teammates and reacted to emergencies on the trail including injuries and adverse weather.

United States Military Academy - Summer Leadership Seminar
-Attended a weeklong seminar on leadership skills at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
-Participated in courses and military exercises designed to test and build the necessary skills to lead soldiers as an officer in the United States Army.
-Critically examined the tools employed by the United States' greatest military, political, and economic leaders.

Pappas Resaurants Inc - Pappasitos To-Go Server
-Worked with a team of 0-4 others to take, assemble, deliver, and execute the transactions of To-Go orders that accounts for nearly $1MM in annual sales.
-Despite being the most recent hire, maximized my utility by quickly learning both the "front" postion, taking orders and completing the transactions, and the"back" position, assembling and checking often long and complicated orders.

XYZ(prefer not to say) Fraternity - Pledge Class President
-Elected by 50+ pledge brothers to serve as the representative of our pledge class.
-Ultimately responsible for the progression of the pledge class in terms of knowledge and history of the fraternity and its members. Reported and confirmed on this progression in weekly meetings with the fraternities executive council and alumni.
-Balanced this commitment and responsibility with a difficult course schedule.

XYZ(prefer not to say) Fraternity - Social Council Member
-Individually selected by XYZ social VP to assist with planning and executing the fraternities social events.
-Hear and present arguments such as budget, building/fire codes, and social factors to determine the concept and structure of XYZ social events.
-Created and mantain a strong network of booking agency contacts and local restaurant, venue, and bar owners.

Any input will be great. I don't know if you can tell, but I only put these 4 because they are legit. I hope it is evident that these aren't just fillers and that I actually learned and benefit from these experiences. I feel like in the interview I could really tie these together to give a holistic ciew of my strenghts. Once again, thank you for ANY responses...given my GPA I'm hoping this can give me a strong push.

Your GPA is a bit low, but your leadership roles are fantastic. Idk if you should mention anything that you did prior to college though, since they’re trying to look at what you’ve done since college. I think GPA and Leadership are equal in terms of weight for admissions or GPA is weighted slightly higher, but if you do well next semester and get to a 3.7 or higher you should be good to go.

BHP Sophomore admissions are really hard to place. It depends on the applicant pool whether or not you will get in. Last year there was a 30% acceptance rate, which is higher than freshman admissions. You should definitely apply and see where you land. Good Luck!

Your GPA is very low considering the average is 3.94 - that means ~10 who are accepted do NOT have a 4.0, everyone else does - scary right? (I averaged four 3.7s, six 3.8s, and thirty 4.0s which gives the 3.94 BHP average). And remember 110-150 apply each year.
Also note that your GPA is lower than the average McCombs internal transfer. [Getting Admitted | McCombs School of Business](http://new.mccombs.utexas.edu/BBA/prospective/Admission.aspx).

Yes leadership is important but realize that everyone applying to BHP has, if not one, multiple leadership roles in both on and off campus organizations and clubs. Also what classes did you/are taking (fall/spring) semester? Course rigor and number of hours is an important link to your GPA.

I honestly think you would not get accepted into BHP - you still need to focus on getting accepted to McCombs itself.

My post may seem like it was written to discourage you but I just stated facts from websites. I think its better to give useful feedback instead of a junk response. I could’ve given a one word or one sentence post, but that wouldn’t help you much.

I still suggest you apply because the application process is free and try to prove me wrong!

Thank you for an honest reply, it’s why I ask CC and not my mother. I’ve done as much homework as I can and know my GPA is well below the average for BHP and even McCombs transfers.
That being said, I do feel confident in my r

At the info sessions they said to apply with anything over a 3.5, so you should apply for sure. Also, I disagree with the other comments–not many opportunities are out there for freshmen to accrue leadership positions, so your confidence in your resume is well placed.

You have to get into McCombs first before even being considered for BHP. I’m not sure how internal transfers work but don’t they look strictly at GPA and nothing else?
