I've always wanted to major in finance. i thought the BHP was just a program in which I can pick a major to pursue, but apparently it is a major within itself. So if I still want to do finance, then I have to double major (BHP and finance). Is this the case for other business programs? And exactly what degree do you obtain from just the BHP?

im not POSITIVE, but im pretty sure BHP is not a major. im doing engineering and will be in the honors program, but know that i'll be majoring in mechanical engineering, not "honors engineering." the only real advantage is some smaller classes and having "honors" on your diploma.
if you want to do finance, you'll do that within the business school, and then just be in the honors program as well. dont get caught up with "BHP" though, from what ive heard from students at UT all the students think that they're really special or something and instead of saying that they're in business, they tell people they are in "BHP."
hope that answered your question

BHP is a major, but it doesn't have any "extra" classes to take or anything. I think it just gets you into the BHP classes. All BHP students do a double major with some type of business field (like finance, accounting, MIS...etc).

I'm not sure about what degree you get from BHP. The things that you get from BHP that are really important:

Mad grade inflation, even relative to the rest of McCombs

(this one's even more important) Priority for interviews. This gets you a much better chance at the top jobs (especially in competitive stuff, like banking) relative to the rest of McCombs.
