Anyone got invited to bienvenue?
Yes @cupcake2002 , just wonderig if going to Bienvenue TU or Honors Weekend is a better option.
@type1mom – They are kind of different programs with some overlap, like the campus tour. Bienvenue is pretty much students only for the weekend and they stay with students, whereas Honors Weekend you’ll see both parents and students and you have to find place to stay on your own. Honors Weekend you will actually register for classes; I don’t know if they will allow you to register during Bienvenue, but they might. The nice thing about Bienvenue is it’s fully paid for, so I don’t see why you’d turn down that opportunity unless there is a scheduling conflict. If you give me more of your background (i.e. are you committed to Tulane?), and what you are looking for, maybe I can help.
I received the invitation and want to go but I still haven’t received anything on Financial Aid. I don’t know if Tulane is even a possibility. I applied Early Action and it seems everyone received their awards already.
I applied EA as well, all I have received so far was a merit scholarship, still no need-based info.
@cupcake2002 and yeah, I’m going to Bienvenue.
@type1mom Since you register for classes at Honors weekend, are only ED applicants considered for the Honors program?
@dmoolina My daughter applied EA
@dmoolina No, applicants from EA or RD who are invited to the Honors Program can go through the optional class registration during Honors Weekend as well. If a student goes through the process during that event and does not end up attending, their registration is simply canceled and the spots are opened up. If a student does attend and changes their mind prior, there is ample time for them to make changes before classes begin.
The point of the optional registration during this event is to demonstrate how Honors Program students have registration priority, to give prospectives a feel for what course offerings there are in their areas of interest, provide the experience of the choices that must be made as a part of registering for classes (with advisor support) and ultimately allow them a glimpse of what the beginning of their coursework at Tulane might look like. It’s a way for them to take the abstract and begin to solidify it into something more meaningful and real. It’s a worthwhile experience whether they matriculate or not.
