I'm really worried that this is a scam:

Scam??:
-Can't access app after I registered and gave them my Social Security number! AHH
-"Copywrite 2006".... 1. copywrite mispelled, 2. 2006 means the site just started? but the site says the scholarship's been going on longer
-no winners listed from previous years

Legitimate??:
-Sponsors: PNC Bank, which even talks about it on their site; PHEAA ( PA education agency ); US Army
-My counselor told me about it
-I saw it advertised in school and on lots of diff sites

It also says the sponsors are: Fedex, AAA, WM (waste management), The Hall Foundation, and a couple others.

I don't know if its legit. But before you sign up for an account, it says:

"AES/PHEAA requires that you submit certain personal information in the creation of an online access account. This information is required both to protect the security and privacy of your personal information. The information you provide during this secure session will only be utilized by AES/PHEAA in ways contemplated in the AES/PHEAA Website Privacy Policy."

and,
"It is your responsibility to safeguard the personal information you have provided to AES/PHEAA during the creation of your online access account. AES/PHEAA shall not be responsible for any damages arising from your disclosure of your personal information to another person." <-- eek!

It is Verisign secured, but I really don't know what that means...it says this
"SITE NAME: callipygos.pheaa.org
SSL CERTIFICATE
STATUS: Valid (06-Dec-2006 to 06-Dec-2007)
COMPANY/
ORGANIZATION:PENNSYLVANIA HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AGENCY
Harrisburg Pennsylvania, US

Encrypted Data Transmission: This Web site can secure your private information using a VeriSign SSL Certificate. Information exchanged with any address beginning with https is encrypted using SSL before transmission.
Identity Verified: PENNSYLVANIA HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AGENCY has been verified as the owner or operator of the Web site located at callipygos.pheaa.org. Official records confirm PENNSYLVANIA HIGHER EDUCATION ASSISTANCE AGENCY as a valid business."

Im not sure if it is legitimate or not, but I thought i'd give this info just in case.
