Big Goals.

My grade are not ready for a 4 year university.
When i start college i will take it very seriously to get a 3.0 average and above. No Games/Videos/Girls/Friend etc.
So i will start small and go to a known accounting community college than transfer to a 4 year. After go for my grad.
After all that i want to try to join the BIG 4
i HEARD IT'S VERY COMPETITIVE
I'm planning to do a lot of accounting activity like clubs and get into Beta Alpha Psi
I heard they look at diversity I speak both English/Creole.
Yes, i do need to work on my English skills Grammar/Speaking more clearly.
My question is do anyone in College Confidential know any good community colleges known for accounting in New York? What else do i have to do get a chance to be interview by the big 4.
After i'm ready to transfer to a university; what is a good known university for accounting Tax.
I want to major in accounting Tax.
Also, What are good habits to maintain good grades in college Especially in (Accountant).

Well…yeah, you do need to work on your communication skills. You aren’t going to be a me to write a cover letter if this post is the caliber of your English. Is English your second language? If so, you might be okay, just get in some good ESL classes. If not…you’re in a bit if trouble.

New York is a big state, so I don’t know what to tell you about community colleges. You can’t exactly go to Adirondack CC if you live in Brooklyn, nor can you go to Nassau CC if you’re out in Buffalo. Find a couple in your area and pick one with your program.

But first things first…work on your comm skills. (I’ve heard, at least) getting into the Big 4 is very difficult, so you need a base of skills - i.e., writing, speaking, etc. It is a prerequisite for any career, Big 4 or not.

Just put one foot in front of the other, have short term goals and suceed in that. Take your English classes as seriously as your Acct classes. You want to be in a position that even if you don’t make the big 4 you will be in a strong position. Don’t have a goal of not having any friends or fun–that’s like being on an oatmeal diet, a recipe for failure. It is a matter of self discipline. Sure cut out video games till summer. But make times for friends on the weekend.

Any CC that offers accounting should be fine. I’d go to the local one so you don’t have to pay for room and board. The trick is to do well and be able to transfer into a four year university.

FYI, you will need 150 credits to become a CPA and be hire-able by accounting firms. Many students now go on for a masters degree to get the requisite number of credits.

Definitely work on English skills. Also in accounting I found that it is important to go over the material taught each class and do all of the homework diligently.

And I agree with @BrownParent‌ that you need to keep a balance in your life. All accounting all the time is not the answer (and I’m a CPA).

Ty for the information now i know what to do.

If you’re in NYC then LAGCC or BMCC are good CC for accounting, and when you are ready transfer Baruch, Hunter or queens have solid accounting programs.
