i've got a major problem. I am an idiot thinking i could take a high loan out and pay it eventually. I can do that but i dont want to wait that long. So i have a high loan. I am looking to transfer to a good business school. I currently attend bryant university and im majoring in accounting and minoring in legal studies. I currently have a 3.11 gpa with 27 credits. I am taking a summer class at a nearby community college. The class seems easy no exams just online quizzes and test which can be open note. So i think i can do well in that class. Anyways, my point is that i really need to find a good cheap business school to go to. What chances do i have. I have many high school ec's. In my freshman year at college i've been part of the accounting association, legal studies association, and the student programming board. I am interning at an accounting firm for the past three summers and i currently found a job working at macy's. Please let me know about any schools in the northeast, North carolina, or florida. Plz plz i need this i was an idiot thinking this before

Well, I think if you had to take out a big loan at your current school, it would probably be a good idea to look at a public college in your home state.

Also, business school - at least a more prestigious business school - is really tough to get into. It is good you have so many extracurriculars and the internship to count as experience in the business field. Wharton (UPenn) and Stern (NYU) come to mind when I think of good business schools in (near) the Northeast. If you wanted to get into one of these colleges, you would first have to raise your GPA a bit and have good recs and essays, but admission is very competitive. Also, I imagine these schools, especially the business school, would not be handing out a lot of financial aid, and NYU is famous for it’s high price tag.

Public colleges in Florida and North Carolina would be good to look into. They would both be relatively inexpensive options. I am not sure about business schools in this area, but I think your best bet anyway would be to get a major in a business-related field (accounting, economics, etc.) instead of getting a bachelor’s in business. You’ll have more options in schools this way. U-NC is a very good public school in North Carolina and they have pretty good financial aid offerings also. I would try applying there to start.

And if you are really set on going to an actual “business” school, I guess I would try a for-profit college, like Walsh College or University of Phoenix. They may not be prestigious but you will get the fundamentals in business, and a degree, and you will also probably still have money in your pocket.

Good luck on your search.

isnt unc like an ivy league so wouldn’t i have to raise my gpa. I was thinkin of North carolina state umass stony brook or uconn. Im going to try to raise my grade lets see what happens. but does taking a class at a community college help if i get an A in it

please anyone else help

please help bump…

I think UNC would be a reach for you. I got in with a 3.175 GPA, but coming from NYU Stern, and with strong high school stats. Other applicants were rejected with GPAs of 3.8 and higher. Also, that’s just the Arts and Sciences program - to get into the business school, you need to go through another application process at UNC, which is very competitive.

As far as the other schools you mentioned, I don’t know how selective they are or how generous financial aid is. What state are you from? If finances are a big issue, I’d really look into a public college where you qualify for in-state tuition, because in general you won’t be able to transfer into a really good business school with a GPA below 3.8.

what about north carolina state university
