Big or Small Envelopes?

Do prep school acceptances typically come in large or small envelopes? Last year, my Exeter rejection letter came in a big envelope, but it also contained information on their summer program. Should I be happy if I get a small envelope? (Even though I'll open it a few seconds later.)

I would just look for a package with a lot of stuff in it. That probably means you got accepted, and has like your course book, stuff, all that crap.

If it has one sheet of paper, DONT COUNT ON IT

I doubt a small envelope will be an acceptance… Like clydoclyde says, look for a package with a lot of stuff in it!

If I were the admissions officers I would send everyone the same sized envelope on M10. For the lucky ones, the letter would inform them of an incoming “package” ;)

That would be worse…the let down would be crazy with that type of anticipation of same sized envelopes.

Fun story, 2 of my boarding school acceptances came in small envelopes. One school put confetti in it! It was fun to open. I thought I was rejected, but out flew bright pieces of confetti saying congrats. So don’t automatically think the worst.

3 of my college acceptance letters also came in small envelopes.

I don’t think you can tell from the size of the envelope!!

My question is, do the schools mail so that acceptances ARRIVE on the 10th, or only the ones without online notification?

It varies by school. I think I remember some acceptances arriving after March 10th last year.

If it arrives on the 10th by Fed ex, or UPS, or overnight mail, I’d bet it’s an acceptance, even if it’s a small envelope. Waitlists and rejection letters arrive by snail mail. To add to the fun, some acceptances arrive by snail mail too, if you live near the school.

I think they do try to get the acceptance decision to you on March 10, either online or by mail. And there are exceptions, but most likely acceptance = big envelope.

One of my acceptances came in a big envelope and the other came in a small envelope with yellow and purple star confetti, like smski’s, it was really cool
but these weren’t hades schools
