does Cornell have AA?

Alchoholics Anonymous..?

haha affirmative action

pardon me, the yankees are winning big

What college?

haha does cornell have affirmative action...

anyway, your only weakness is your GPA...but theres a very high chance they'll let it slide.

Cornell definitely has Alcoholics Anonymous....I think they also have affirmative action...if you go to the Cornell homepage and search the term you'll find some articles on it. In 2006 Pres. Skorton wrote something up on it...

I hope youre joking when you say you "think" cornell has affirmative action...I've never been in a place where diversity is made into such a constant in-you-face issue. I feel like it actually contributes to racism...but thats an entirely different topic.

i'd prob apply undecided

Cornell is very in your face about diversity....I think it's good and bad...

I have my own opinions on affirmative action as well....but this forum is not the appropriate venue to discuss them.

hmm, i'm surprised you havent taken the Math Level 2 subject test yet. i was under the impression that that particular test was in a sense an unwritten requirement when applying to say the top 20 universities and UCs

SATs arent spectacular, and GPA might hurt. ECs don't look as strong as some of the applicants to cornell. as for teacher recs, how are they "beyond good" when it's clear your academic record isnt as strong as some of the applicants in your year? sorry to sound like a wet blanket, but theses are certainly areas of your app that can be improved.

as for AA...i have strong opinions about it, but eh, who knows what will happen. college admissions is too unpredictable

regardless, you shouldnt rely on affirmative action to get into any school

oh well teachers see the effort that i give all the time, and they have all said that i'm one of the nicest people ever. i might not get the best grades, but i def. am one of those people who tries like hell,i've just gotten unlucky i suppose

unlucky? grades arent about luck...

but anyway, i agree that you can still get great recs even if you dont have the top GPA. you only really need a couple teachers you click with.

and i disagree that you have a lot of weaknesses. affirmative action will help you a lot and to me it looks like you have everything you need (yes, with affirmative action in mind) except the GPA. but the GPA is not prohibitively low...so yeah you might be alright. applying ED would help a lot too. and did you say youre applying undecided, as in not choosing a college to apply to?? you have to pick a college to apply to...

well i know it's not luck, but when you try as hard as i have and all, it's just frustrating. well major undecided, i haven't looked at the different schools yet, but maybe the college of arts and sciences (i'm sure they have one).

Maybe you should research Cornell first. I'm not trying to sound rude...but you seem to know very little about the school. The different colleges, having AA, all of that...just go to the site and look around, and order a viewbook.

Be sure before you apply. They may choose you over a better qualified person due to AA, and then you may decline the spot. Make sure you REALLY wanna go.
