Big school vs. Small school

I did not get clarification on my last post, so let's try this again.

I'm an Asian (Vietnamese/Chinese), high school senior living in Kansas City, MO. I'm coming from a high school of 1,000 students (6-12). I have applied sporadically to various colleges and have narrowed it down to 2 main choices; UCSB or Loyola New Orleans. UCSB has 18,000+ undergrads, while Loyola has less than 3,000. I don't want the high school experience, but I want have personal and engaged classes taught by professors instead of TA's. I'm planning on majoring in a science related field like Bio/Chem in preparation for medical school. I also would like ethnic diversity. I'm not racist, but experience has shown that I do not interact well with African Americans, so I don't want to go to any school that is AA dominant. I'll be coming from out of state, so both colleges will cost well over $30,000. So basically, what I want out of college is a quality education that will prepare me for medical school, ethnic diversity, and a healthy social life (parties). I DON'T WANT A HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE. Please help. Here is a list of all the other schools I've applied to in case they are more fitted;

Rice University
UCLA
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Southern California

PLEASE HELP.

What exactly are you asking? Are you asking for which school will be a better fit and prepare you for med school? Can you afford all those OOS schools?

Yes and yes.

You do not have to major in biology or chemistry to take the pre-med courses.

That’s what I’m good at and interested in though.

i would choose Washington University over the others since it is within driving distance to your home. Rice is much more difficult to get in than the rest on your list.
WashU>UCLA>USC
i assume you are still waiting for admission decision. Focus on your school work for the next months.

Umm I’m trying to get far away from home as possible dude…

then remove WashU from your list.

Rice is much more difficult than WashU? I’d like to see some stats supporting that. Why did you apply there if you have no intentions of going, and it is not a safety? Confused. You really would’ve done yourself a favor by applying to some more mid-sized schools. If you don’t want the high school experience, you may want a larger school. As you get into higher level classes, I don’t think class sizes will be as daunting as you think.

The UCs will cost you a lot more than “over $30,000” – cost of attendance for out of state students at Santa Barbara is and Los Angeles is in the $55,000 a year range. And yes, many of your gen ed classes will be very big.
