In absolute terms, is it easier to get an A in BILD or upper div classes?
Of course BILD would cover easier material, but they also can have a lower gpa average. For people who have finished the BILD series and taken some upper division courses, do you recommend that I take BILD or some upper division course with high GPA average if my goal is an A?

It depends on which BILD class and it depends on which upper div bio class. Which classes were you thinking about?

How difficult would the BILD series be for a person who got a 5 on the AP test? I know you’re supposed to be exempt from it, but I’m required to take it (2 and 3) due to special circumstances that I don’t fully understand.

I thought BILD 1, 2, 3 are very similar in difficulty? How would the “hardest” (if there is a clear hardest one) BILD class compare to a lower upper-div class like BICD 100?

^If you got a 5 then they probably won’t be that difficult (as opposed to getting a 1 and not feeling like you understood anything) but I will say that I took AP Bio in high school and I barely remember learning much from BILD 2 and 3 in it. Maybe that was just my class. I don’t know. Either way it’s nothing to worry about.

I would say most people would find BILD 2 the hardest and I think it’s a little bit harder than BICD 100, but then BICD 100 is the easiest upper-div bio class that I’ve taken.

I agree that BILD2 is the hardest and BICD100 is somewhat easy because it’s common sense stuff sometimes and there’s some material from BILD1 included in this course as well.
BILD2 is really in depth, I would say it’s more of like physiology.

It also depends on the professor and the layout of the course. Any course without homework grade can be tough because without homework, what you do is you start studying the week before exams, then your grade is entirely dependent on a midterm and a final. However usually there’s no curve for classes with homework grade.

BILD3 was my first BILD to take and I’d say I suffered. BILD3’s supposed to be the easiest one tough, but because the class I took had 1 midterm and 1 final, without any curve. Plus you just had to memorize every bit of details which was impossible for me.

And just for those wondering, this isn’t an actual requirement but rather what people just do when the homework is optional. If you want to get a higher grade than those people in the class, do the optional homework. Ta da.

I found bicd 100 incredibly easy. But the avg GPA of that was 3.2 and bild seems to be about 2.7. So you are saying in terms of getting an a, the class difficulty is comparable?

What about the bibc series vs bild? If it is difficult then I might want to take it after I apply to schools ( that way they won’t see how bad I might do D: )

Though I can’t run away from bibc 102 because it is like a pre req for EVERYTHING

^I found the material in BILD 2 harder than in BICD 100. As far as getting an A, I think that’s pretty professor dependent since they can curve the class in different ways or adjust their scales lower.

BIBC 102 was not particularly easy and it was definitely harder than the BILD classes. But then again, I got a B in BIBC 102 and a B in BILD 1 and 2 so like I said it just depends on how the professor grades things. I also studied more for BIBC 102 and was better prepared in general, but eh, you have to take it eventually anyway.
