Aren't we always talking about the need for passion here on CC? Well, that is what Cowher has. He cares deeply about his players, fans, city and team; sorry if you don't like the way his passion is displayed.

There is a reason why Cowher is the most tenured coach in football: he works for an organization with class. When he had a few losing seasons, the Rooneys did not feel the need to fire him. There are not many other NFL teams where you keep your job if you have more than a couple in a row.

Yes, I do think that Pittsburgh is a little different. People here are pretty friendly. There's alot of ethnic neighborhoods and extended families who have been here for many generations. BTW, fans supported Maddox, because that's what it is to be a team. And regarding coaching, I applaud the Rooneys for sticking with Cowher when he had a couple of non-championship years. Teamwork.

Isn't this is a SPORTS thread? Isn't it mandatory to exclude facts, truth, and wisdom from such threads? As such, my bashing of Bill Cowher is as intelligent or as dumb as lauding his greatness.

With today's NFL parity, yesterday's heroes are tomorrow villains. A couple of inches left or right, different bounces from the ball would have resulted in a very different stable of playoff teams. Just ask the Chiefs and the Chargers! Today's genius coaches will be clipping coupons tomorrow. Invincible QB will again blame their kickers for the team failures.

Every year there is one happy team and 31 -or fewer- ticked off supporters. The criticism -justified or not- comes with the territory. Otherwise, for the fans, the game would be less fun than watching paint dry.

When it comes to the Steelers and the Eagles, the easy answer is: "Whoever plays against them." When they play each other? Against my better judgment, I'd have to go with the Eagles. :)

No, I meant to ask if are you in or near a town with an NFL team? Or have you ever lived in a town that had a team you still root for? Who is "your" team? (I promise I won't slam them!)

The Browns? Ravens? Raiders? No, no, it's a lot easier than that. Here's a hint:

One of my favorites SB moments is when Neil O'Donnell threw two perfect spirals to a journeyman named Larry Brown, who was not exactly on the same team.

Oh sweet that was but also ... so long ago! :)

The Detroit effort in hosting Super Bowl XL is being led by Roger Penske, who is very hands on and goal oriented. They are working their butts off to put on a good show.

The North American International Auto Show concluded yesterday and they have to move out of Cobo Hall in 4 days, rather than the 3 weeks they usually have, so that the NFL Experience can move in.

We know it can be cold here - just give the town a chance. Everyone is going all out to treat all the visitors right.

Jerome Bettis is your city's biggest supporter. Lots of Pittsburgers are looking forward to the short drive to your fair city. I do not doubt that Detroit will be a great host.

Crushed. I'm crushed to find that Xiggi is a Cowboys fan. Sometimes even great intelligence can be blind to the obvious. One of my favorite authors? Peter Gent. My deepest held belief? Drew Pearson pushed off against Nate Wright in 1975.
