<p>Personally I think Geneseo may be superior but nobody's heard of it, not even here in southern NY. Since Binghamton is a university center it gets all the focus and Geneseo is a LAC public school so even though it is exceptional it doesnt have the ability to make itself known. That is why Binghamton will be the better pick when going for a job</p>
<p>You are right bdmet. Both are exceptional schools, but Binghamton is more well known due to the fact it is a SUNY university center. Here upstate, everyone knows about Geneseo and for lack of a better comparison, no one knows SUNY New Paltz exists. I mean, New Paltz, is not nearly as selective school as Geneseo but it is the right behind it. In short, SUNY college reputations coincide with demographics more than anything.</p>
<p>That's interesting how the demographics come into play. Don't you wish everyone would recognize them both for what they deserve? They are both great schools that deserve more reputation than they have</p>

<p>I applied to Binghamton over Geneseo simply because I will have the opportunity to get a master's degree in my undergrad major (PPL) and because it is closer. On Long Island both are considered equally but Geneseo is more selective because it is a smaller school.
And yes, I've heard that Binghamton is much better for political science than Geneseo, which is another reason why I applied there.</p>

<p>It really depends on which one YOU prefer. They're both good schools, highly ranked, and will cost about the same. But they're SO so different. One is a university, the other is a college. One is in the middle of nowhere, the other is on a HUGE parkway. </p>
<p>So after you visit, you'll just know.</p>

<p>I was going to apply to both bing and geneseo, but decided to take Geneseo out because of the environment. It is in the middle of nowhere. Bing has a town nearby, so you can go there for the weekend or something. theres also a target, walmart, movie theater, restaurants there with a free bus to take you there!
Academically, both are very very good. Geneseo is about 1/2 the size of bing.</p>
