Bing & their scholars...

Does anyone know if the notification is sent with the acceptance letter..?

I don't think it does....blase you looking for a scholarship?

It's always nice to have extra money =)
Especially because Albany gives their scholars 80% (3500 for instate, out of 4500)

Bing on the other hand, is like what-- 500?

yeah Bing doesn't give scholarships all too often.

Bing only gives that for their Honors students plus some special housing for the first year. Bing considers itself to be the top school and therefore does not feel the need to have to attract the best and brightest because that is who they originally attract. The other schools except for Geneseo feel the need.

The $500 at least could pay for a few books.

yeah you got to put into consideration Binghamton's Academics against Albany's..

ure painting quite a gloomy picture here. does the university still try to help out their students via loans (private/federal)?

u really havta have ivy league stats to get money out of binghamton... no offense... because they RARELY give out scholarships... and if they do its only about $500 as someone had previously mentioned...

The scholarship is in the Fresh year of $500 and the third year of $1000. You do get to choose special housing the first year and there are pre-registration
perks as well.

I'm sorry, but that is a pathetic excuse for an honors program. Bing is regarded by most as the best SUNY, yet its rankings continually slide in publications like US News (take it for what you want, its connotations are pretty loaded). If Bing expanded its Honors program they probably could attract some of the excellent students in NY that use them as a safety.

Sometimes the kids who use it as a "safety" go because they don't get into the ivies.
:o)
When do kids find out?
Generally speaking, I have okay stats....

i completely disagree with US News rankings... but i wont get into details as to why i resent it...

I'm sorry for hating on Binghamton. And yes, US News can be silly sometimes. I just get mad when I know there are so many terrific students in New York and some can't afford a top-notch, but expensive private university and states like California, Michigan and Virginia provide terrific options for students who fall into that category.

QNY- I feel the same way. We have some top notch students in NY and we do not have an outstanding state U. This must end! The only way to fix it would be to pressure the legislators to provide more funding and for the students to pay more in the way of tuition. If people are willing to pay top dollar for other state U's or to go to privates, then I do not see why the heck students here cannot pay a bit more to improve the colleges. I know many of these schools are in remote areas but Penn State is in the hell of nowhere too but D would prefer to go there than Bing or Geneseo. I keep on thinking that she and the other top students should stay in state and keep those scores elevated and demand more from the system. Don't know what the solution is.

the rank will prolly increase next year. 20% more kids applied or something. so the SAT scores and acceptance rates will improve

**When do students receive invitations to join the program?

Invitations to join the Scholars Program are sent out in the spring before the student's freshman year.**

Binghamton's tuition is very cheap for in-state's relative to UVA, Michigan or any schools in the UC system.
