Binge watched tv shows

I guess I’m not far enough in to be beyond the “quite interesting initially” camp.

@Iglooo Did you used to have Amazon Prime and don’t any more?

I got it briefly to watch Mozart in the Jungle.

Finally watching True Detective, season 1. I’m not a fan of Matthew McConnahey but his character is pretty great.

I’m watching season 2 of True Detective. Creepy but compelling.

I adore Mozart in the Jungle, particularly the last season.

I was unable to watch S2 of True Detective. I could not see what was happening–too dark–and as a result it was too confusing. And I an NOT a fan of Colin Farrell. I have thought about revisiting it, but there is a lot of other stuff to watch.

Love The Marvelous Mrs. Maizel.

We liked True Detective Season 2, many people criticized it after great reviews of the first, Matt M and Woody. The cast of 2 was one of the reasons we tuned in, Colin, Rachel, Vince and Taylor (Friday Night Lights was our favorite). Two new shows we’re watching are Waco with Taylor Kitsch and The Assasination Of Gianni Versace, both dark but the true story aspect is a draw, good actors.

Just started watching Black Spot on Amazon. Looks like a promising suspenseful thriller for my next binge. French with subtitles. A good follow up since my withdrawals after I binged La Mante!

I just started Retribution today on Netflix. It only has four episodes, but I was hooked after the first episode! It’s a very suspenseful drama about a murdered newlywed couple in Scotland and their devastated families who don’t get along. It’s already had a lot of twists and turns and I’ve only watched two episodes. Apparently it was released on British TV a couple of years ago with the name One of Us.

Dirty Money on Netflix. It’s not a series, but documentaries/exposes about major cons and frauds (e.g. VolksWagen cheating, payday loans with exorbitant fees preying on people with the least) caveat: gets your blood boiling!

More light-hearted for fans of cars: Head to Head also on Netflix (not a series, nonfiction), good hosts.

“Somebody feed phil”!food travel series with lots of heart - phil rosenthal created “everybody loves raymond” - little goofy and awkward moments but episodes about Thailand, viet Nam, Lisbon, Tel Aviv entertaining-

^That show’s called “I’ll Have What Phil’s Having” and is on Netflix.

Somebody Feed Phil is a new version of I’ll Have What Phil’s Having. The original was on PBS, now moved to a Netflix production.

Love Phil - and his parents!

^ I’ve enjoyed both of the Phil series- especially the new one !
"Somebody feed Phil " is nice twist on the tc series name "everybody loves Raymond "

On a wet cold weekend we binged watched Retribution on Netflix. We enjoyed- lots of twists and tunes. Thanks for the recommendation upthread.

After Cardinal and then this we need something lighter to watch. Superbowl ??

@doschicos, found out yesterday that MOITJ is back for season 4 on February 16th. Just wanted to share so you could accelerate your binging  I am almost done with The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, which I love, so I’ll be ready for Rodrigo and “Jai alai.”

Found a great new Netflix original scifi called Altered Carbon. It didn’t have that horrid pilot episode issue (“Hi neighbor Dan! Isn’t it great that our boys are best friends here in this lovely little community?”

More like a movie. The scifi part of it is more movie like than any other scifi series I’ve ever seen.

I watched the first episode of Altered Carbon and had no interest in watching a second one. I agree, though – they spent a ton of money to get an impressive look for the future society in that show. Unfortunately, everything else about it was too preposterous to put up with.

Thanks to whomever recommended “Retribution” on Netflix. We watched all 4 episodes in one night, truly bingeworthy!

Tried to watch “This is us” for the first time after the Super Bowl. Husband watched 10 minutes & left to walk the dog and I only lasted another 10 minutes. Was that episode typical for the series? I found the tone maudlin and the acting marginal.

I felt the same way about This is Us. I watched about half of first season then gave up. We loved Ozark. Cant wait for next season.

I guess This Is Us affects everyone differently. I liked it from the beginning, but wasn’t sure I liked it as much as Parenthood. But by the 3rd episode I was hooked and have been fully engaged with the characters and storylines ever since. There are multiple issues that are very relatable to me.

I also really liked Ozark. Looking forward to more of that show.
