Binghamton Appeal Letter

Hi,
I received this letter and had some questions about it:

Dear _______:

We have received your request to appeal your admission decision. As you may know, we received approximately 29,000 applications for 2,000 spots. This is the most competitive year in Binghamton University’s history.

The Admissions Committee recognizes your strengths as a student. However, due to the number and quality of applicants of, we have determined that our original decision will stand.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Brown
Director of Admission

Questions:

I never asked adissions to appeal my original decision, so why did I recieve this letter?

I was originally waitlisted, does this letter mean that I will still remain on the waitlist?

Admissions told me that applicants will not know if they are off the waitlist until early June.
3. Are waitlisted applicants learning about their decision earlier?

Thanks for anyone who helps.

If you didn’t appeal, you should contact admissions as there is some mistake. I don’t believe that it is a rejection letter but call and double check.

Thanks for your help. I’ll contact admissions on Monday since there closed for the weekend.

Is there anyone who recieved such a letter who did not appeal their letter?
