Binghamton Class of 2024 Thread

My daughter just got her EA acceptance to the arts and sciences college. She is in state, public high school. 34 ACT and 8 AP’s with 5’s and 4’s. GPA was about 3.8 unweighted out of 4. Not a ton of extra curriculars.

Accepted - Harpur EA Undecided In-State
Great ECs, I’m assuming good letters of rec, 33 ACT (35 superscore), 96.8 GPA taking the most challenging courseload

Does anyone have an ETA on in-state Watson Engineering decisions? Seems like only Harpur went out today.

D got accepted to Harpur for linguistics. UW GPA 3.97, ACT 33, lots of ECs. She is over the moon.

Accepted EA, Harpur, in-state. 99.9 GPA, 33 ACT, 1490 SAT, 800 SAT II Bio, all APs and Honors. Several leadership roles in ECs. Did not receive email notification. Checked portal and found out there. Applied 11/27. Good luck to those still waiting!

I just got accepted to Binghamton EA!

i had no idea that they would sent out email this fast

Congratulations everyone! Wow 11/25 is super early to hear back for instate student acceptances…seems like everyone who posted so far is from Harpur…

She received financial aid emails last Monday and was accepted a week later. Maybe it is a sign they are getting ready to notify a student.

Just got into Harpur!
1470 (710 ERW, 760 M)
103.5 Weighted GPA
Lots of comm service/leadership/EC

Did everyone getting accepted already start receiving all the emails from Binghamton last week or did they just start for you also. Not sure if it’s a precursor to a decision

@hkellner My D recieved a 12k/year award to Harpur (she’s a premed Bio student). Her stats were SAT 1480, UGPA 3.7/4.0, WGPA 4.25/5. She also had lots of sports (captain of swim team) and ECs.

And this may help others-In late January (two months after her acceptance), my D was accepted into FRI and Scholars (with a $3.5K study abroad grant). She is happily engaged in a biomedical anthropological stream as part of FRI and is living in scholars housing this year (where she has taken advantage of all sorts of great programming and trips).

Accepted to Harpur college last night, undecided major. 33 ACT, 34 Superscore. 4.0 GPA out of 4.5. 4 AP total, 3 honors classes, 2 varsity sports(not playing in college).

Are you instate or out of state? Did your D get scholarship notification with email admissions?

@Kc2002 our child got a letter in the mail the day after they were accepted via the portal update.

To everyone,

Please provide the following information when letting us know you were accepted via EA:

Date you completed your Bing application
What college (Harpur, Engineering, Business, etc.)
Instate/Out of state (OOS)
SAT/ACT
GPA
APs (how many 1-8?)
ECs (none, 1-3, 3+)
Portal/email or letter notification, date and time received

This info is helpful to everyone track where Bing may be in its decision making process.

Good luck everyone,

SD

in state. Just got notification on the portal have not received anything else in the mail.

Daughter accepted!! EA into Harpur, on 11/25 @ 7:15 pm via portal notification. In-state. GPA: 4.1, ACT: 33, 8 APs, 5 college credit classes, tons of EC’s. App submitted late September. Good luck to all!

I’m a current Bing SOM student and thought I might offer some advice/insight for those anxious about the process. Yesterday was a big release of In-State decisions. Typically, they’ll release in-state decisions for EA applicants before the holidays. I got my decision on 12/12/17 and had a 31 ACT score and about a 3.72 UW GPA. Don’t lose hope – there are plenty of more acceptances to come within the next few weeks. Good luck to everyone!

For reference, my sister who was accepted yesterday:

In-State Applicant
Harpur (Philosophy, Politics and Law major)
32 ACT (33 superscored)
4.1 GPA
Multiple ECs, APs and college courses
Email and portal notification received around 7:15-7:20pm
