31 ACT, 3.95 GPA out of 4.0 (UW)

Just got accepted!!! Received my email at 9:59 PM, Computer Science here I come :D. I’m so excited right now!!! Here are my stats if anyone wants to benchmark. Good luck to the rest of you!!

SAT: 2020
Cumulative GPA weighted: 95.16
Class rank: 9/532
Gender: Male

Lot of community service and some extracurriculars.

I was wondering if anyone could weigh in on this. Is acceptance easier when applying early action or when applying RD?

@jbryant
Thank you! I have a 4.1 gpa 32 act and I’m in the top 10% of my class in a ny suburban public school

That’s a big debate. Generally EA has a higher acceptance rate than RD, but personally I think that’s because I think it’s generally a better pool of students who are prepared and ready to apply early than RD. Just my opinion.

Just got my email! Accepted into Harpur A&S. Couldn’t be happier! I found out I was accepted the “unofficial” way yesterday using the quikpay link but it’s nice to officially know.

Stats:
ACT: 34
GPA: 3.8 UW
Lots of extracurriculars with leadership
Great recommendations (at least I assume so; I waived my right to see them)
In state resident
Great essay IMO

Was that the last of the email frenzy. :(

@tiva
Might I ask, when exactly did you receive an email?

if you didnt get an email, look at your admission status online. in the middle it might say deferred to RD.

thats what happened to my son (still made it in though)

we didnt get the deferred email for another day

@hftm
Still appears that I’m EA for now.

In the likelihood that I am deferred, I would love to know; was there anything you did in addition to better your chances in the RD pool?

Accepted to Harpur Arts and Sciences!
4.19 GPA
28 ACT Comp

Test scores are NOT everything!

Oh cool I’m still in EA, not all hope is lost yet?

@trumpet
I hope not. What time did you receive the email?

It’s a ****ty way to do it, but I think they released most of their acceptances by mail and the leftovers by email tonight. I’m sure more will be out tomorrow though…

anyways on the happy side I’m in wooo!

31 ACT
3.61 GPA
1400 grad. class (no ranking)
good ecs and essay :)

Anyone hear about acceptance to the nursing program? Decker?

Got the email at about 10:00 PM EST

ACCEPTED

I got really lucky. The luck came as a result of hard work.

GPA 3.2W 3.08 unweighted. However, my GPA is low because of freshmen and half of sophomore year when I didn’t understand the importance of school. I wrote an AWESOME essay on hard work to bring my grades back up. I kept all my report card GPAs above 4.0 in order to save myself.

ACT: 27; perfect 12 on the writing

Extra Curricular: Soccer coach grade 10,11,12
Big brother for BBBS for grade 11.

My letter of rec was awesome. It was from a teacher who had me in 8th, 10,11,and 12th grade. She attested to my great improvements in school.

I am an African American (which I am sure helped) and I live in Ohio.

Final note: WORK HARD GUYS! It’s always worth it. Set the bar high.

@jbryant624 well sorta.

My DS was deferred to RD and we waited until the very end to find out he was waitlisted for the fall but he accepted for the spring. Which meant he was gauranteed to get into Binghamton in the spring (like right now…lol).

We put down the deposit for the spring and another college for the fall.

a week before final payment my ds and I took a road trip down to the college to meet with a college advisor (200 mile road trip each way for a 15 minute interview).

3 days later he was taken off the waitlist and he went to Binghamton in the fall…

All this means is DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE. he got the Fall acceptance 1 day before deposits were not refundable. (April 30th).

P.S I was accepted into the school of management

P.P.S I also pulled a near all nighter for a Physics test (that I got an A on) the same week of the ACT. Lol That, in combination with the loud buzzing refrigerator in my hot as heck testing room was not very good for my score.

I recommend you take the ACT at a college instead of a high school. I hear it is much more comfy to take it there.

Did anyone get deferred through the status checker?
