I am deciding between these four schools. I am from New York, and I am undecided in my major, but maybe something in sociology and/or film studies. Anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for a school with an active social life as well as great academics. Please help! Thanks everyone.

northwestern. best reputation and near chicago, so hopefully there’ll be some movie-related internships you can do

If finances aren’t an issue, Northwestern if you like a slightly larger university and Macalester if you prefer a LAC.

I’m 100 percent with Alexandre.

Film studies? Are any of those other places known for it besides Northwestern? Google “Northwestern mafia” and look at all the theater and film alums.

I have to agree with the above, and I usually push Tulane. But if there is a decent chance you will pursue film, NU is the place to be of those schools. USC, NYU and a couple of others would have been good possibilites also. The great thing about NU is that if you decide to drop film completely and/or even sociology and go in a totally different direction, NU is strong in so many areas you will be fine. Plus the trimester system, while kind of intense at times, gives you a lot of flexibility in that regard as well.
