isamad, although I do refuse to comment specifically on applicants and their chances, I will say that you do need to complete the Common Application in addition to sending materials. If you did not complete any applicable essays, then your application is NOT COMPLETE!

U.S. News & World Report has ranked Babson’s MBA program #1 in entrepreneurship for 16 consecutive years, and #49th overall in 2010

Binghamton:
According to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine, Binghamton was ranked the #1 best value for 2009.
Binghamton is listed on Greene’s Guide to Colleges as one of the Public Ivies.
According to the 2010 BusinessWeek rankings, the School of Management was ranked 12th among Public Schools in the nation and has the second best accounting program. The school is in the top 4 Business Schools in New York State, along with New York University (NYU), Columbia University and Cornell University.

There’s no denying that Babson has a stronger program for entrepreneurship. Overall, however, Binghamton is ranked highly in many programs and costs significantly less. The School of Management at Binghamton is very well respected.

I can’t sugarcoat this, but if you are definite on entrepreneurship and can afford it, Babson might be the better option. This completely throws everything else out the window, however, such as reslife/location/price/overall academics & value. It’s a tough call.

rassydassy: Unless you have a compelling medical reason for a single room, no. Additionally, single rates are significantly more expensive than double rates, as you aren’t “splitting the rent” with a roommate. There are very rare instances where a freshman might end up in a single for their first semester due to an error on Residential Life’s part, and they do NOT financially penalize you for that. It happens when someone pays a deposit and doesn’t show up, for example. Generally they’ll try to find you a new roommate within a few weeks though.

again: Yes! In fact, I live in Chemical-Free housing in Mountainview!

Burrrns - in terms of research, generally professors will require you to complete pre-requisites in the department in which you are planning on doing this research. These lab assistant positions are for credit and not for a stipend or volunteer. If you are interested in doing research, spend your first semester getting to know which labs you might be interested in working in and contact the professors for more information. By letting the professor know that you are interested you can possibly help your changes of getting into a lab later on in your undergraduate studies…Also fyi, these assistant positions are very competitive as many upper-classmen try to get them so start early in contacting the professors.

Do freshmen HAVE to live on campus? I heard that some universities require freshmen to live on campus. And I am not sure if Binghamton is one of those universities…

Can you login to the deposit site and are you eligible to pay a deposit? Because today is April 1st, if you aren’t eligible to make a deposit, I would think that’s a bad sign…sorry. in effect, you should be able to retrieve an acceptance from the mailbox and log right in to make your deposit. Call admissions and ask, maybe they’ll tell you. Good luck, I know how stressful this is for you. Btw, did you get in anywhere else that you would be happy to attend?

Happynari - unless you live within 50 miles of the University (in Broome or Tioga Counties) you do have to live on campus. These are the requirements for being a commuter which would mean you live at home.

Kyle - if the letters go out today, they may not get to you for a few more days…don’t completely give up…

Looking at back at last year’s posts, I see a lot of people didn’t get letters up in to May for transfers. There is a whole thread from last year for transfers who were worried past the April 1 deadline and what they were told was that since there are so many applications, Bing tried to meet at least the Freshman deadline, but there were a lot of transfers still left that weren’t reviewed. Some people got acceptances in mid April, while others got rejections. Around May most people got rejections though. I would suppose that is the case here again, maybe BingAmbassador would know. One person even got rejected and 3 weeks into April got it reversed automatically to accepted.

I am currently accepted by Binghamton. However, I am confused about the next step to take. 1)I am now in Baruch College and has already been determined as a NYS resident, do
I need to file for NYS resident using Binghamton form once again, or I am automatically a NYS resident? 2)I received financial aid award of 11000++ by applying FAFSA. However, I haven’t apply for Binghamton using TAP since I could only choose one college in TAP, which I wrote Baruch College. If I change the TAP’s college option to Binghamton, would I receive more financial aid or the same amount?
3) I got my financial aid package. The federal subsidized and unsubsidized loan is offered. This maybe a stupid question, but my question is are this loan that I need to pay off? If it is, I don’t really believe it, that as a NYS resident, I am only offer about 5000 grant and need to pay the rest through laon and parents’ contribution.

One more question, would I be consider for scholarship as a transfer, and that I file my FAFsa on FEB 14th? In my financial award, I see nothing about scholarship, does tat mean I’m out?

How does Binghamton look at a student applying for transfer if they were previously accepted but decline admission as a Freshmen? Well…because they were accepted once? Or negatively, because they declined admission previously?

I’m planning to transfer to Binghamton University in Spring 2011. My GPA is around a 3.5 after my freshmen year at a CUNY School. I intend to enroll to Binghamton as an Industrial Engineering Major, what is my chance? In addition, is it possible to double major with the School of Management because I am intending to be a CPA.

I currently attend another SUNY college. I have a 3.7 gpa after my freshmen year and I am taking 20 credits this semester. What are my chances of being accepted to Binghamton?

Does anyone know whether you can you have your high school mail the official transcript and counselor reccomendation or MUST you use this self-reporting STARS system?
