I'm deciding between the two schools
binghamton U.
pro: located in new york(good for my major, close to nyc) and i plan on transferring to a better school hopefully nyu or something later on so it'd be nice to know the area first.
also i've seen reviews and everyone comments so positively on how nice the people are there. plus, there's a lot of diversity, which i love! one of the most diverse schools in the u.s.
good college overall
con: it's kind of expensive.... they didn't offer me much financial and and i have to pay about $8k more compare to umass
Umass
pro: party school, nice town and weathers a lot better than binghamton. also a good school but it's ranked slightly lower than bing plus it's cheap
con: i know about a handful of people who go there(that i don't like), pretty much no diversity, students are not that nice or so i've heard, trashyy, and someone i knew who went there didn't have a good experience.
sooo
bottomline is it worth to pay $8000 more a year just for a better experience? inputs would be appreciated. please help!

Binghamton and Amherst are abou the same distance from NYC, so don’t let that drive your decision.

^ According to Google maps, exactly the same distance!

The real question is can your family afford the additional $8K/year? If so then it seems Bing would be better. BTW, NYU will cost >$50K/year so I wouldn’t count on transferring there.
