Binghamton vs. Lafayette

I was accepted to to Binghamton's Watson for CompSci (In-State), and the only other school that I have yet to hear back from that I like is Lafayette College. I am pretty confident i'll get in there. I know they're pretty different, but any help picking?

Oh, I'm also considered for Lafayette's S-Stem Scholarship (5k first two years, 10k last two years)

I had to make similar choice almost 40 years ago.

I wanted to go to Lafayette, but SUNY Albany was a lot cheaper.

I went to SUNY Albany, and then transferred to Cornell.

But if you have the money, I would go to Lafayette.

By the way, to show you how the financial figures have skyrocketed since that time, I went to Albany because the tuition was only $2,000, while Lafayette’s tuition was an astounding $5000. That was a big difference back then.

Now, you can multiply those numbers by 10.

Have you thought about how to pay for Lafayette?

This is the cost from College Board for Lafayette per year…

Tuition and fees
$41,358

Room and board
$12,362

Books and supplies
$1,000

Estimated personal expenses
$900

Yeah, I can afford Lafayette.

The schools are very different but they are both excellent. If you like Lafayette better AND your family can afford it without loans etc., I’d go there (for full disclosure, my D will be attending Laf next year).
