Bio 1a Midterm

How did everyone think of it? I thought it was way too easy.. which is horrible for the curve...

When do get them back?

i thought the midterm was easy too!

but normally though, the curve is ultimately decided at the end of the class.

we probably will get it back in section… i didn’t understand why she reused so many questions @_@

lol from old midterms or wut?

yea… the professor copied/reworded more than half of the questions in her old midterm… what’s with that?! when i was doing the first page of the midterm I was thinking “did they mess up and gave out last year’s midterm again???” UGH I should’ve studied that past midterm more…

Lol wow lazy prof. Who is it? In any case, yeah doesn’t sound like the curve’s gonna be forgiving…

my friend said it was tough…lol I’ve already taken the class, but damn I would want your teacher if she just recycles questions.

Doudna… yea too bad we didn’t know she recycles questions until now because this is her 2nd time teaching the class I believe.

Well from what I remember when I took the class, all the test questions were really predictable. My strategy for that class was to watch all the webcasts once and then study off the old tests until I understood the answer to every question. I always ended up thinking the tests were too easy and that the curve would be high, but I got ~1 SD above average on all of them anyway. Maybe you guys did too lol.

^ We had the same teachers I think. Did you take it in the Fall?
If anything though, I totally bombed physio (I think it was that) with that one old guy who kept getting lost in his own slides. Turrrible.

yeah I took it fall and yeah forte was a bit all over the place. though it was much less of a pain than 1al overall lol

word to the wise: she also recycles q’s from her own mt for the final.

i was kicking myself during the bio 1a final for only having skimmed over her mt in preparing for the final and not literally committing the exact test to memory

Wow… why is she so lazy -_-

people may disagree, but I quite enjoy tests from big-time/busy/noteworthy professors. It seems that they put a lot of time into their research/other work that they skimp on the work in their lower div classes. Or maybe its just that with bio its hard to get/write a large variety of innovative/insightful questions.

I think it’s the latter. There’s only so many ways to phrase questions about important concepts. Unless you prefer she asks questions about specific less important details…hah

But there is a difference between repeated concepts and using the EXACT SAME questions.

@mariokart64, you enjoy the fact that they put in time with their research, not the fact that they are lazy about their tests. Not the same thing.

Eh, I’m just bitter I missed a question that appeared on her last midterm.

I took Bio 1A a while back, but I think it’s pretty pathetic that she apparently reused questions. Writing a MC choice test for Bio 1A, which is probably the easiest class ever for her, really wouldn’t take that much time. I hope they don’t let her teach again.

I want to get the past exams too.
Where do we get the past exams from ?
