Ok. So there are like 40 spots left for BIO 203. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to take it. The class is part of my major requirements and part of my premed requirement as well. But I heard that this professor is insane! His tests are "Which of the following is MOST incorrect?" tests. I mean who does that?? I also heard that he is a nasty, mean professor with a big ego too. The point is I don't want to take this class with Cabot, study my ass off, and then fail. I would rather take BIO 203 when Cabot is not teaching and ace the class. What should I do? Should I take the class now or during the summer when he's not teaching? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hey. I’m taking BIO 203 next semester for my biology major and pre-med requirement. I’m a freshman. This guy is not going away and the curves re insane in the class. Last year the grade needed to get an A in the class was like 68. I mean it is a demanding course but I’m sure if you study you can pull an A. I think it’s as demanding as CHE 131.

From experience, if it is a course you need as prereq for other courses, I would say take it and do your best. If the professor is bad, everyone in the class will do poorly so a curve is supposed to even things out. You never know who is teaching next semester, it could be the same person, so you might as well get it done now.

Hey guys Im taking it too. What section are you in, evening or morning? Honestly, I hear this class is challenging but theres no way of avoiding it so its best to get it over with and if the curve is as good as they say it is then we should be fine.

Cabot always teaches 203 and its only offered in the spring. if collins is the other prof, focus doing well on his portion since its a LOT easier than cabots however the curve is VERY generous. If you average around a 75 its pretty much an A. Dont worry about it too mch. You will learn a lot by the end of the semester and youll be well prepared for mammalian of you choose to take it.

Also lots of professors use the “pick the most incorrect answer” format so its good practice.

I got an a- in that class, but I have to say the curve is a bit harsh in the way that they appropriate grades. I honestly think the entire format is stupid from the midterm/final weights to the exam and grading format, and that because it was packed with so much information, that in the end I didn’t even know what I learned. With molecular bio it was at a good and fair pace and I can remember most of the material when studying for mcat’s, but with physiology I have to re-learn a great deal as he was all over the place and jam-packed each lecture with so much content that got off the point of the main concepts. It’s a shame he’s teaching it.

Currently I’m on the waiting list for the morning class and I’m at position number 39. There are only 35 seats left so I don’t think I’ll be getting in. So I have no choice but to take it over the summer. Oh well, I might as well kill some DECs while I’m at it. I think there’ll be someone different teaching it during the summer. I hope it’s not Cabot. And I hope the exams are formatted differently. Thanks so for the advice guys much guys! I hope I get into the class. If not I’ll take the summer one. Good luck to us all :)

FYI, the format and difficulty is the same during the summer.
